After being diagnosed with a debilitating condition, life goes on for 34-year-old United Kingdom local Elizabeth March.
As the Business Manager for an internationally acclaimed local IT company, Elizabeth was tasked with traveling across the country to meet, train and support the clients of the business, along with spending a lot of time behind a PC at a desk.
She had been struggling with symptoms that prevented her from walking, standing and driving for any prolonged length of time. This was causing her pain and making daily duties and everyday tasks quite difficult which led to having herself checked by a local physician. She was given medication to treat the pain, however, things weren’t getting better.
Later on, she was diagnosed with Myositis, a condition wherein muscles are inflamed.
“I had to give up my job due to my inability to perform the role I was tasked with. It was at this point, I decided to spend some more time with my husband who lived in Spain. Out of savings, I needed something to do,” said Elizabeth.
She came across an article about making money online, which was inspired by the book ‘How to Work a Four-Hour Week’. In the article, she read about earning on Freelancer.
In May 2015, Elizabeth brought her amazing skillset to Freelancer. Her projects involve content production with a twist of optimizing this content for SEO, which has been a trend for some time now since the internet continues to make strides in the field of marketing.
A few months later, Elizabeth found out that she was pregnant with a baby girl. Learning that she was bearing a child inspired her to work even harder. “At that point, I truly realized the potential that Freelancer.com could offer me with regards to making a living full-time as an online writer,” she said.
Finding projects was never an issue since she actively bid on projects. She was awarded a plethora of projects in her first few months as a freelance writer.
One of her most memorable projects was a recent one, where she was hired to write some content for a nutrition coaching app that was later on made available in the Apple store. She was amazed to see such an app before it was released to the public. Writing app content was a new experience, so she researched thoroughly on writing good copy for it.
Her employer was very pleased with her output and provided with a very descriptive review of his experience. Elizabeth continues to provide the said employer with her writing services, but this time on new products.
Elizabeth, once again, had to endure another life-changing event when she and her husband decided to part ways. She immediately moved back to the United Kingdom to rebuild her life. Despite the difficulty of what she was facing, she still saw the brighter side of life.
“I honestly do not know where I would be if I hadn't discovered Freelancer when I did. It has formed the backbone of support for me over recent years,” she said.
Today, Elizabeth has been hired for over 600 jobs and has earned thousands of dollars on the platform. Freelancer projects are her means of supporting Madison-Elizabeth, her one-year-old daughter.
“In September of 2017, my content writing academy business is set to officially go live and I am so excited to be in a position where I am going to be able to help budding writers and other mummies who want the freedom to fit work around their families learn how to become an online writer, just like I did.”
“It has been a tumultuous couple of years. And, Freelancer.com has been with me every step of the way. Through it all, I have been able to pick up work when I can, and press the pause button when I have needed to focus on personal and family matters with ease.”
