Switching to Compact View
Once you switch to compact view, you can:

Select a project (only Hourly projects in progress are shown)

Access the menu

See if the app is online or offline (this is the app’s status; it automatically detects if there’s an Internet connection or none)
You can always go back to normal view to access the rest of the desktop app’s features.
Switching from one view to another will not affect your tracked time as long as the timer is running. Moreover, if you went offline, the app will continue to track your hours and capture screenshots, which will be uploaded to the server once you go online again.
