I am not a content nor an article writer and really have no such skills. I just want to write this to let emerging talents know, that they can achieve their goals. All you have to do is just AIM and stay FOCUSED.
The country I live in, Pakistan, is going through an economic crisis. Job ratio is not up to that mark where it should be. New graduates are struggling so hard to get jobs; even after getting one, they are not getting desired payments.
I started my career back in 2015 as a web developer in a local software house with a monthly payment of $180; that software house was also getting projects from Freelancer.com. After serving them for more than a year, I asked for my increment but they gave me invalid reasons such as I don’t deserve it yet; that I still need to prove myself, etc.
At that time, I was trying to get projects from Freelancer.com and finally got one. The project was of low budget -- $10; but that gave me so much encouragement and I started dreaming about my career as a freelance entrepreneur. I then got another project from the same employer but was also of low budget -- $20. Despite of the low pay, I gained more confidence.
During this period, I was continuously trying to get my increment from my company; but after 4 months of waiting, I got nothing. I had to keep myself busy and find other sources of income.
So in the meantime, I started getting projects with a higher budget -- around $500. That was the time when I realized, I should quit my job and just focus on freelancing.
This is what I had in mind when I decided to quit my job:
That project made me realize that “I will get 500 dollars for my efforts and I don't have to share it with anyone. I am not working for a company who will just pay me on a fixed monthly basis even after doing loads of work worth more than the income that I am getting."
So that's it. I have started my professional career here on Freelancer.com back in June 2016. Best decision I ever made with just one motive in my mind: here, I will get paid properly for my efforts.
Now, I have completed around 30+ successful projects with 44 reviews and 100% completion rate which means I have not failed a single project. Also, I have 40% repeat hire rate which means employers love to work with me on a long-term basis. I have all 5 stars with my earning meter at 6.7/10 -- all these in around a year of hard work.
To sum it up, I just want to tell everyone who is struggling anywhere in the world to just keep on trying. Build up your confidence and stay focused. Get help from trusted platforms that will surely enhance your talents. A huge thanks to Freelancer.com: a platform which helped me to become what I am today.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL NEW FREELANCERS OUT THERE!
