Hi, I hope you still open for new ideas :) Presented is my composition based on your brief for simple & elegant web design. I've also included how it will look on when user hover over the search menu ( i'm not sure if this is the interaction you intended but i think its a nice to have rather than you have to go through another page to perform search, however my main intention is to show how modal/pop-up will look in this design. Please let me know if you have any feedback, so i could revise the design to better suit your user needs.
