Tóm tắt cuộc thi
Hello. We are looking for a cover for a new business book we are writing. Our target audience is safety managers, operations managers, and/or human resources professionals, predominantly in industrial companies that have higher rates of accidents (which cost these companies a lot of money!).
We would need 2 files from you:
1) E-book: a front cover for an e-book (Kindle and then possibly using Smashwords to convert to other formats)
2) Print: front and back covers for a later print version, probably 6" x 9"
FRONT COVER COPY:
Title: "Before it Happens"
Subtitle: "How to Predict Human Error and Save Lives through Safety Self-Awareness"
Greg Ford, M.Ed
Stephen Race, MSc. Psych
images: <Please keep in mind that this is a business book (not a fiction book) and also it is for an industrial audience. Some people have been submitting covers with photos of men in suits and ties, but that is not appropriate. As well, we are open to having a cover with no photos at all but perhaps just a creative (but professional) design for the text lettering. >
BACK COVER COPY: (You can copy and paste the text in the paragraphs below).
Imagine the next accident that will happen in your workplace. Chance are, it will be due to human error, not faulty equipment, improper rules or inadequate training. In fact, up to 95% of incidents are due to human error, and research shows that human error is directly linked to personality traits such as distractibility, impulsiveness, defiance, and more.
But instead of finger pointing, pencil whipping, and blaming the worker, what if there was a different approach to getting workers to act safely? It's called SAFETY SELF-AWARENESS, and it borrows from the most effective learning and development method--empowering the person with the tools and knowledge to change himself.
This book presents an innovative approach to behavioral-based safety, one that is not about observing current (italics) behaviors and catching people doing things wrong, but instead is about predicting future (italics) behaviors and giving people self-insight into why they make the choices they usually make...and how they can make safer choices!
"This book is excellent. It presents a new and much-needed approach in our world of safety."
-Tim Van Wieren, Global VP Safety, SNC Lavalin
"This is great stuff. I wish I'd had this book years ago."
-Charlie Morecraft, world-renowned safety speaker
"This is a book every safety manager should read to help develop a great safety culture."
-Shawn Galloway, Pro-Act Safety and co-author of "STEPS to Safety Culture Excellence"
"I've been coaching business leaders for years, and this book uses all the best principles for effecting behavioral change through self-knowledge. Finally someone has taken it to the front-line workers!"
-Lisa Martin, author of "Lead + Live: 7 Strategies for Success"
<need room on back cover for ISBN number, bar code>
