I need a simple PHP forum where users can register and post comments and questions on the forum, there must be a login page and a registry page that will inform my email about new users registering. Right now all I care about is that it all works well and dosent have to look good I will make it all look nicer later.

you said you need registration. it says your forum wont be a part of other working web sites .it will stand alone .its a best solution for you to use some famous , tested and popular component like the joomla , word press and etc has . I am new here but I am not new in development world . I am good in joomla configuration and joomla programming as well as good in programming with pure php . what you get is what you want just tell me .

  mine is able to integrate to wordpress/joomla without any problems.
  Since you are already experienced its will a lot easier to manage the forum from the admin panel.
