Contest Brief
Overview:
I have a completed piece of artwork (attached) that I’m very connected to. The composition, color palette, and layout are near perfect. I’m requesting one precise symbolic adjustment: repositioning and refining the Sigma (Σ) symbol + its concentric circles to deepen the message of personal evolution, system disruption, and quiet control.
⸻
Project Goal:
To relocate and subtly redesign the Sigma symbol and surrounding concentric rings, so it becomes:
• A symbolic echo of independence and control
• Less visually dominant — more embedded and reflective
• An intentional part of the composition’s lower right corner
⸻
What to Adjust:
1. Relocate the Sigma + Circles:
• Move the entire Sigma + concentric ring element to the bottom-right corner of the canvas
• Placement: 30–50% of the symbol should remain visible, with the rest fading off the canvas edge
• The fade should feel natural — like it’s dissolving or disappearing into the textured background, not abruptly cropped
2. Introduce a Break in the Rings:
• Add a clean, intentional break in one of the rings (suggested: outermost or middle)
• The break should suggest growth, disruption, and departure from closed systems
• Placement of the break can align with where the ring intersects the edge or stand independently inside the visible portion
⸻
Symbolism to Guide the Design:
• Concentric rings = Past, present, and future — cycles, layers, systems
• Sigma symbol (Σ) = Internal mastery, independence, control
• Break in ring = Stepping outside the system, evolving, freedom
• Fade into edge = Transition, subtlety, and movement beyond borders
“I’m in the system, but I’m not contained by it.”
⸻
Everything Else Stays the Same:
• Preserve all other artwork elements exactly as-is:
• Family figures + semicircle
• Compass rose and grid
• Topographic lines
• Color palette: beige, rust orange, black, muted teal
• Textured vintage background and layout balance
⸻
Final Output Requested:
• A high-resolution print-ready version:
• 300 DPI PNG or layered PDF (ideal for canvas or poster printing)
• Size: Suitable for 24” x 24” or larger print
• Optional: Provide a before/after version for comparison
