This contest is for designing a homepage mockup for a Mortal Kombat fan site. We are in the process of doing a full website re-launch, and our site needs a fresh re-design. $120 USD to the winning entry for the homepage design mockup (just one page).

Here are the specifics:

To get an idea of our content, our current site is www.davesmk.net. The site is built using Wordpress and the Genesis Framework 2.0. So the wireframe is more or less this: http://www.genesisframework.com/. The only really major addition is that we'd require a Hero banner slideshow above the news posts and right rail (directly below the main navigation). Another thing to keep in mind is that we're developing this as a responsive website, so nothing too crazy can be done here as it'll need to work fluidly in tablet and mobile.

In terms of the design elements, we're looking for something dark and gritty and in line with our current site and the rest of the Mortal Kombat sites currently on the internet. But we're open to fresh ideas as long as the design represents the dark themes of Mortal Kombat. In terms of a color scheme, we're imagining something black and dark red... but again we're open to fresh ideas. Some themes to work with include steel, fire, and blood splatter among other of the game specific themes.

To get an idea of the game specific themes we're referring to, visit the official Mortal Kombat website http://www.themortalkombat.com.

Regarding the font(s) used, this is the designers discretion as long as they're web fonts that can be grabbed from Google Fonts or another similar open-source web optimized font site when we're coding the site.

Finally - our current logo is attached (logo_v5.png). Feel free to modify as you see fit.
