We are developing an apparel and clothing line. The brand is called New Army™. We are seeking a designer for a logo and branding basics (i.e. brand color scheme(s), font(s), logo, etc.) When this brand proves profitable we will need the services of a graphic designer dedicated to the brand. This contest is intended to provide us with both the initial logo/branding basics AND one or more potential graphic designers for future, expanded work on the project.

We are interested in seeing your ideas based on the parameters, guidance and themes listed below. We are deliberately not providing specific guidance in terms of logo design, color or font. We wish to see the product of your imagination and creativity.

Logo parameters:

- Unique and iconic
- Easily identifiable
- Works both when rendered small or large
- Works on apparel/garments of all types
- Must be provided in all formats (.jpeg, ai, etc.) to be used in various media (i.e., websites, apparel screen printing, document printing, etc.)

Logo guidance:

- Must appeal to the sense of rebellion that is felt by the youth (16 – 20) of each generation. This sense of rebellion is universal -- crossing all cultures and found in each new generation of young people
- Must inspire a sense of empowerment, belonging to a worldwide, cross-cultural group
- Must NOT suggest violence

Brand Themes:

- Positively focused youthful rebellion
- Responsible global citizenship
- Responsible global stewardship

Key Points:

- We will own all rights to the winning logo and associated branding

- Only the contest winner will receive compensation (US$ 200). No other compensation is promised or implied by virtue of your participation in this contest

- This brand is expected to develop into a profitable, growing business. We will have need for a dedicated graphic designer to support this brand. At our discretion we may retain the services of the contest winner, one or more contest participants and/or others in the future to continue design work for this brand and others we are developing

We have selected our winner! We have also selected several artists who will be receiving $50 participation prizes. The ideas you've presented to us have been fantastic. You've helped us understand our brand message better and have inspired us to develop a large number of apparel art and marketing ideas. Right now we working on understanding the mechanics of Freelancer.com better so that we can actually press the button that awards the winner as well as figure out how to award the participation prizes.

  Actually, the winner was five stars. We asked several artists do different looks of their submissions. This helped us reduce from four choices to an ultimate winner. The art we chose was a version of the entry that was declared winner. We also have contacted several contestants and offered $50 Participation Prizes to say "Thanks" for both the effort and the creativity of their submissions. We were particularly energized by several of the participants and their creativity. We've reached out to these participants -- even though they didn't win the contest -- to offer the Participation Prize and establish contact. We hope to work directly with these artists going forward as we build the brand and the art for our apparel. The $50 is to say "THANKS" and to let them know that, as the brand becomes viable, we hope there is much more work and money to follow. (dhanygraphic - check your freelancer.com mailbox...)

UPDATE: We will DEFINITELY be awarding the prize to someone. You can now consider this contest as GUARANTEED. We may also purchase additional design ideas beyond the contest winner.   We hope to find a design/designer that we want to work with. We're happy to award the prize -- and more. However, with the prospect of potentially not finding anything we like we are not guaranteeing the prize. (NOTE: We're about 24 hours in to the contest -- we've already seen about a dozen entries that have has us intrigued. It appears VERY likely that we'll award the prize to somebody.)
