The team and the company:
We are a team of MBA to-be-graduates, who are setting up a company. Our vision is "Help people achieve their desires to enjoy making their own unique things". We develop web site where customers can easily design their own 3D items (e.g. iPhone cover). When they are satisfied with their design, they can purchase it as 3D printed real product. We use 3D printer to fabricate and then deliver it to the customer.

Target customer profile:
mainly 20's to 40's but also teens and 50+
male and female
have some pocket money ($50-100) to spare

Company name:
The name of company is "D3Makers" (without double quotation).
"D3" has double meaning. One is "Three Dimension" as we do business using 3D printer. The other is "Doco Demo Door", an imaginary door which leads to anywhere you wish to go in opening the door.

"Makers" indicate that we are part of the recent Makers movement that we believe people have natural desire to make their own unique things.

Theme:
We'd like simple&bold yet elegant logo/icon design.
Our corporate theme color is green. Logo and icon themselves could be greenish, or they could be colors matching to greenish background.

Requirement:
Icon and logo will be used on web site as well as paper printed items in color and grayscale. Icon (and hopefully logo as well) may be engraved (embossed) to 3D printed objects (i.e. must be simple, bold and have high contrast).

Idea:
One idea of icon design is to take the capital letter "D" and shape it as a door. The letter "3" could be formed to be a door knob? But don't be trapped to it. We welcome wild ideas!

Deliverable:
The contest participant must submit both icon and logo.
The contest winner must submit followings:

We'd like the company name to be recognized easily just by logo.

Icon could be located above, below or beside logo. But the icon may be used on its own.

    Hi! The team had meeting this morning but we couldn't make final decision.
    We like to change the plan to announce the winner next week, Friday 7-June.

    We narrowed down to a few candidates and decided to ask opinions from friends and family.

    #117 : Thank you very much for trying to improve #78 to make D more recognizable. Unfortunately the added crescent seem to have defeated the simplicity and cleanness of #78 . But I love the three variations!

      Thank you very much for trying very many ideas, promotionalpark! I still like your #17 . The logo should spell out "D3Makers" in one line. Icon can be located aside or above like #17 . The icon in #48 is good. It's simpler yet looks good. I do like to see new ideas but I find myself tend to score higher if door concept is embraced.
