Design custom spritesheet for game using photo realistic effects

Contest Brief

We are looking for a long term partner, who can help us design an ambitious 2D game for iPad (and other high resolution devices).

This competition will be specifically for designing ONE single sprite sheet (a single image with "tiles" that are used for creating levels in the game). We will provide the current sprite sheet and will leave it to your creativity to change the "look" of the game from this very simple "retro" style to a photo-realistic look using real materials (or virtual materials) - its completely your call. We will invite the winner (and possible runner ups) to help us create the final game which will have a much bigger budget.

The sprite sheet must be loaded into "Tiled", which is an open source level editor available here: http://www.mapeditor.org/download.html.

This is done in the following two steps:

Before starting on your proposal, please install "Tiled" and load the sprite sheet into the editor to understand how the sprite sheet works.

1) Put the sheet.png in the same folder as the Tiled .exe file that you just downloaded
2) Open the "Tiled editor", and select "Open file". Choose the example.tmx file (attached below). The example game level should now be shown in the editor.

After you have designed your proposal, replace the sheet.png file with your proposal and repeat steps 1) an 2) as described above.

Please consider the following:

- The provided sprite sheet is just for reference. We would like a different and much more detailed and "photo realistic" looking sheet
- The theme of the game is "alien planet", so we would prefer an alien look, but could be created using real materials like "rusting iron", "marble", etc

The winner will be asked to work with us to create the game, which is a 6-12 month assignment.

Looking forward to your contribution!

Hi, one question: do you need this tiles to be 70px wide? Or can they be larger?

They need to be 70px wide as they must fit in a 1024 x 1024 canvas

Please also note that the theme is "alien space ships" .. so please dont send earth and grass tiles like the proposal above, but something a little bit more "stellar" :-)

When opening the example.tmx, its important that the sheet.png is in the same folder as the .exe file and the .tmx file
