Design mechanism Proposal
Hi, I attach my proposal, the piece in blue in the images (drawing) is the new mechanism to block the pair of spring, it is about moving the mechanism backwards to block, or forwards to use the pair of spring. If you need to have this drawing proposal in cad or pdf with quality to see the drawing up close, tell me. If you like my proposal, I can convert the drawing to a 3D model, and provide a detailed plan of measurements and of the the new mechanism. regards

yes exactly, it is simply with the fingers it would be to slide forwards or backwards to lock.

I think I understand your mechanism better now that I take a second look at it. The undesirable point about this design is that a user has to get his fingers in between the top and bottom arms of the tongs in order to be able to grip the small sliding piece for it to function, and he has to do that once when getting the tongs to open, and once more to lock it.
