I want to do tension after impact CFRP laminates. I tried with abaqus dynamic explicit. I used abaqus inbuilt hashin model with continuum shell element. When I do tension after impact with 10mm displacement, elements are stretching instead of sudden failure. I have included the Flanges drawing to build the Abaqus Model. The Flange connects the riser's bottom part to a spool. According to the attached spec, the only thing that needs to be modelled is both parts of the flange. I suggest building the left and right parts of the flange separately and then the gasket and stud bolts separately. Once done, then define a contact area to connect the parts. One can use Pre-load-tensioning for the bolts.
