I am seeking an experienced illustrator to create a unique and visually stunning fantasy character design. The character will serve as a reference for future animation development, as well as for use in marketing materials, merchandise, and book promotion. The design should embody a striking blend of humanoid and parasaurolophus traits, with intricate details and a sense of otherworldly mystique.
*A humanoid figure with parasaurolophus features, including a brown/biege color head with a horned crest that has the texture of bone and a gray goatee.
*Bioluminescent teal eyes that stand out against a backdrop of soft, glowing illumination.
*A crimson robe with intricate patterns and detailing, accented by opals embedded in the robe’s fastenings.
*A cherry wood rod adorned with a golden knob that the character leans on for support.
The character should exude wisdom/enigmatic/mysterious, whimsical/playful traits, through posture and expression. Optional additional poses or expressions to give the character versatility.
The character should fit into a fantasy-inspired art style that feels magical and otherworldly. Open to stylized approaches, as long as they align with the described vision.
The design will be used for:
Animation Reference: Multi-angled views (front, side, back, three-quarter) to aid 3D modeling.
Marketing Materials: digital ads.
Merchandise: Adaptations for items like T-shirts, mugs, and collectible items.
Deliverables
Turnaround Sheet:
Front, side, back, and three-quarter views of the character.
Clearly detailed and consistent proportions.
High-Resolution Files:
JPEG/PNG for immediate use in marketing and print materials.
Layered PSD or TIFF files to allow for future edits and animation references.
Optional Extras:
Additional poses or expressions (discussed based on budget and time).
The project is expected to be completed within 6–12 months, with the following milestones:
1.) Month 1: Initial sketches, mood board, and style exploration.
2.) Months 2–4: Finalization of character concept and detailed rendering (front view).
3.) Months 5–8: Completion of multi-angled views.
4.) Months 9–12: Delivery of all files and optional extras.
The budget for this project is $1,000–$4,000, depending on the illustrator’s experience and the final deliverables.

I have decades of experience in illustrations, doing variety of things, from children’s books to tattoo design, graphic novels, concept art and characters design to fine art commissions. Seems to me that this project would unite all of my natural inclinations - towards fantasy, towards hybrid creations, intricate details, fine things that define a character… and what I love the most, thrill and excitement of giving birth from nothing, creation, that is. I’m traditionally trained and in terms of work I’m still mostly traditional, doing everything from scratch, hand drawn. I use Procreate a lot, but even those look traditional. You’d be able to follow the development throughout the process and if this brief reflects you character and mindset, this would be terrifyingly lots of fun.

My name is Todd Van Linda, and I am a freelance Concept Artist and illustrator from West Palm Beach, Florida. While I have been drawing with pencil and pen and ink since I was a child, I have been working freelance full - time as an artist / illustrator since January of 2010.
My previous work has been quite the mix; I'm not sure that there's anything I haven't illustrated at one time or another, in one style or another. While I am a big adherent to traditional pencil and pen and ink techniques, I am also a daily Photoshop user for the digital aspects. Digital painting is a major focus.
