I need a designer with a strong background in sheet-metal fabrication and mechanical engineering to turn my material-handling concepts into shop-ready sheet-metal parts and assemblies. The end product will be industrial equipment used on a manufacturing floor, so everything you model must stand up to repetitive daily use and integrate cleanly with existing conveyors, guards, and support frames. You will start from sketches and verbal specs, translate them into fully detailed 3D models, and finish with clear fabrication drawings complete with bend lines, weld symbols, cut lists, and BOM. DXF file outputs are required for laser cutting. Key points I’ll evaluate: • Efficient nesting and flat-pattern accuracy for laser cutting • Weldments and gussets sized correctly for mild-steel plate and tube • Easy assembly sequence that minimizes jig time on the shop floor • All critical tolerances called out and GD&T applied where needed The workload will be flexible at around 4-6 hours per week on an as-needed basis. Once the first unit is approved, small iterative tweaks may follow, so an organized model tree and configurability are essential. Please share your recent material-handling projects, mention the CAD platform you’ll use, and let’s create gear that rolls straight from drawing to production without surprises.

This is exactly the kind of project I enjoy most. Real industrial equipment, real fabrication methodology, and a client who understands that the drawing package is what makes the difference between a smooth production run and a shop floor nightmare. I have designed material handling equipment before, including conveyor support frames, guard panels, and custom transfer stations for manufacturing lines. The key lesson I learned was that weld sequence matters as much as weld size. A well designed assembly can be clamped and welded in under an hour. A poorly designed one needs fixtures and rework. For your project, I would use Solidworks 2025 with sheet metal and weldments add ins. I will model every part with bend allowances calculated for your specific material thickness and tooling. Flat patterns will be nested efficiently for laser cutting, and every weldment will have gussets sized correctly for mild steel plate and tube. I will deliver full 3D assemblies, individual part files, flat patterns in DXF, fabrication drawings with bend lines and weld symbols, cut lists, and a BOM. The model tree will be organized and parametric so you can make iterative tweaks without rebuilding everything. I can start immediately and am available for video calls to review sketches and specs. I can also send examples of similar industrial equipment I have designed. Let me know when you are ready to begin.
