I have a physical velovigil style unit on my bench that must be turned into a fully documented, production-ready package. The main goal is to end up with detailed manufacturing files, not just a pretty 3D image. Here’s what the job involves: • Reverse-engineer every panel, tab, slot, bend and hole into a precise 3D CAD assembly suitable for sheet-metal workflows (laser cutting and brake-press bending). • Generate fabrication drawings and DXF files with exact dimensions, bend lines, tolerances and notes ready to hand straight to a laser-cutting shop. • Optimise the design for low-volume production: correct corner reliefs, kerf allowances, reasonable bend radii and tidy nesting. • Supply an exploded assembly model so I can run fit-checks before ordering the first prototype. • After the first physical build, incorporate any tweaks needed to guarantee everything mates perfectly. I don’t have any legacy drawings or digital files, only the physical sample, so you’ll be working from measurements, photos and any extra data you request from me. I’d appreciate your recommendation on the level of dimensional tolerance we should hold to strike the right balance between accuracy and manufacturability. Native SolidWorks or Fusion 360 format is preferred, but let me know if you have a stronger suggestion. Expect a brief video call at kickoff to review critical features, then I’ll ship or deliver the unit to you (depending on location). Deliverables—hand-over ready: 1. Native 3D CAD assembly with fully defined parts 2. Flat-pattern DXFs for each sheet-metal component 3. Production 2D drawings (PDF & DWG) with tolerances, material specs and finish callouts 4. BOM with material and hardware list 5. One revision cycle after prototype feedback If this fits your skill set, tell me which CAD platform you’ll use, how you plan to capture the geometry accurately, and any similar sheet-metal projects you’ve completed.

Hi, This is the type of project I regularly work on. I have 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, SolidWorks, sheet-metal modeling, reverse engineering, and manufacturing drawings. I can reverse-engineer the physical unit from measurements, photos, and reference points, then build each panel as a proper sheet-metal part with the correct bends, reliefs, holes, tabs, clearances, and bend allowances. My workflow would be: * Measure and map the physical sample carefully * Build the parts in SolidWorks using proper sheet-metal features * Check assembly fit and mating conditions * Generate flat patterns and DXF files for laser cutting * Prepare manufacturing drawings with tolerances, bend notes, material and finish details * Create BOM and exploded assembly * Make the required changes after the first prototype For tolerances, I’ll recommend practical values based on the sheet thickness, bend process, and features rather than unnecessarily tight tolerances that increase production cost. I’ll use **SolidWorks** for the native files and can also provide STEP/DWG/PDF files as required. I’m happy to review the sample during the kickoff call and identify the critical dimensions before starting the modeling. Regards, Shivam

With a solid background in Mechanical Design and Product Development, I understand the nuances and intricacies of turning a physical sample into meticulously detailed manufacturing files. With my mastery over SolidWorks (my preferred CAD platform for this project), I can ensure that no detail of your Velovigil unit is lost in the 3D model or kinking out in the flat patterns meant for laser cutting and brake-press bending. I have also completed similar sheet-metal projects before, and through them, I've gained valuable insights into optimizing designs for low-volume production, be it ensuring reasonable bend radii or tidy nesting. Being an engineering-first thinker, my approach is not simply focused on delivering aesthetic 3D representations but on creating precise CAD assemblies that are ready to be passed onto the shop floor with all specified tolerances for superior fitment. My proficiency extends beyond just CAD modeling; should you need any support during the prototyping or require further iterations post-builds, I am absolutely open to incorporating changes as needed.

Hi, This project fits well with my mechanical design and sheet-metal CAD experience. I would use SolidWorks to create a fully parametric, production-ready assembly and detailed fabrication drawings. Since only a physical sample is available, I’ll systematically reverse-engineer it using precision measurements, photographs, and feature-by-feature inspection. I’ll model each panel with appropriate bend allowances, bend radii, corner reliefs, holes and slots, then generate accurate flat patterns and DXFs suitable for laser cutting and brake-press fabrication. I’ll also prepare manufacturing drawings with practical tolerances, material/finish specifications, bend notes, BOM and an exploded assembly for fit-checking. For general sheet-metal dimensions, I’d recommend practical shop tolerances rather than unnecessarily tight limits, with tighter tolerances applied only to mating/critical features. I have hands-on experience with SolidWorks, fabrication drawings, sheet-metal design, engineering documentation and workshop/vendor coordination. I can also incorporate prototype feedback into the final revision. I’d be happy to discuss the unit and critical features during the kickoff call.

I’m good at drawing and I’m also creative when it comes to making things look better. I can draw pictures, edit photos, come up with creative ideas, and help design things depending on what someone needs. I can also help with writing messages, captions, and other creative stuff. Basically, if someone gives me an idea, I’m usually good at figuring out how to make it look or sound better.

Hi, I'd be glad to help turn your Velovigil-style unit into a fully documented, production-ready package. My approach: I'll start with precise measurements of every panel, tab, slot, bend, and hole, supported by reference photos. From there, I'll build a full 3D CAD assembly in SolidWorks using sheet-metal tools, so bend allowances and flat patterns are accurate — not approximated. For manufacturability, I'll apply proper corner reliefs, kerf compensation, suitable bend radii, and efficient nesting for low-volume production. Deliverables: Native 3D CAD assembly (fully defined) Flat-pattern DXFs per component 2D drawings (PDF & DWG) with tolerances, materials, finishes Full BOM Exploded assembly view One revision cycle after prototype feedback On tolerances: I'd recommend ±0.1–0.2mm on cut features and ±0.5° on bend angles as a starting point — tight enough for good fit-up without overcomplicating fabrication. Happy to adjust once I see the part and material thickness. Glad to do a kickoff call to review critical features first. Note on pricing: Given the depth of reverse-engineering, DFM work, drawing packages, and revision cycle involved, this typically runs $50 depending on complexity. Happy to hop on a call to scope it properly and agree on a fair price. Looking forward to discussing further.

Hi, You’re not looking for a pretty 3D model—you need manufacturing files that a laser-cutting and fabrication shop can use with confidence. That’s exactly how I’ll approach this. I’ll reverse-engineer the physical unit in SolidWorks, systematically measuring every panel, bend, tab, slot and hole and rebuilding them as proper sheet-metal parts. I’ll account for bend allowance, K-factor, bend/corner reliefs, clearances and practical tolerances to maximise first-prototype fit. Deliverables: ✓ Fully defined SolidWorks parts & assembly ✓ Exploded assembly for fit-checking ✓ Laser-ready DXFs ✓ Production PDF/DWG drawings with tolerances, materials & finishes ✓ BOM and hardware list ✓ One prototype revision I’ll consider manufacturability during modelling, checking bend radii, hole-to-bend distances, brake-press access, assembly clearances and low-volume production practicality. Since you only have the physical sample, I’ll establish datums and use a systematic measurement process, confirming critical dimensions rather than guessing. After the first build, I can incorporate actual fit feedback into the final CAD and DXFs. I’d be happy to discuss the unit during the kickoff call and share relevant mechanical/sheet-metal work.

Hi, I can take this from physical unit to a production-ready sheet-metal package. I’d use SolidWorks , building a fully parametric native assembly with individual sheet-metal parts, bend data, hardware, and mating relationships. Geometry capture would combine a structured measurement/photo checklist, reference dimensions, and—where useful—simple scan/photogrammetry data validated against critical manual measurements.
