Hi chads50, This is quite similar to a project I delivered last week, so I can jump straight into execution. Ready to start immediately. Which Godot version are you targeting (3.x or 4.x), and what are the target device specs and budgets (tri counts, texture sizes) for the hero cat and arena? For the cat, do you want real-time fur (cards/shells) or a painted/normal-mapped look, and what exact animation set and rig features are needed (root motion vs in-place, tail/ear dynamics)? Suggestion 1: Use a single PBR texture atlas (1–2k) for the cat with channel-packed masks (M/R/AO), two LODs plus a simplified physics proxy, and in-place animations with root bone motion to minimize draw calls and retarget complexity. Suggestion 2: Build the arena as a modular kit with trim sheets and baked lightmaps; merge meshes per material, add LODs and occluders/portals to keep draw calls low and frame times stable on mid-range phones. Action Plan: - Phase 1: Define style, budgets, animation list; collect refs; fur approach test. - Phase 2: Cat blockout → sculpt → clean retopo and UVs. - Phase 3: PBR texturing (atlas), fur cards/shells or painted normals. - Phase 4: Rig (FK/IK, tail/ear dynamics) and animations (idle/run/jump/attack/hit/death). - Phase 5: Arena modular kit, UVs, trim sheets; bake lightmaps. - Phase 6: LODs, colliders, occluders; export glTF; Godot integration. - Phase 7: Mobile profiling and optimization; polish and handoff.
