Hi, I've worked with many API's before, particularly ones which deal with importing large amounts of product data to a website. The product feed will request the data from the API supplier and most likely insert it into a database which will be read by your web store, or if you web store has it's own API, it will be used to insert the data in the most optimal way possible.
