Comprehensive IT Server & Network Management

I need an experienced partner to take full ownership of our mixed Windows Server and open-source stack so that day-to-day operations remain stable and secure. The environment is built on multiple Proxmox hosts, a pfSense firewall, TrueNAS storage, site-to-site and client VPNs, and a Windows-based Active Directory domain that drives employee access. The immediate pain points are: • Inconsistent connectivity between virtual machines. • VPN throughput that drops under load, affecting remote users. • Drives on the TrueNAS box that will not stay mapped to certain Remote Desktop hosts. • A need for a reliable, centrally managed backup and recovery plan that covers Proxmox, TrueNAS and several production databases. • Ongoing Active Directory tasks—user onboarding/offboarding, group policy tweaks, and regular security patching. Core Windows Server responsibilities will include backup & recovery, Active Directory management, and applying security updates without disrupting service. Deliverables 1. Stabilise VM-to-VM and user VPN connectivity and document the root causes and fixes. 2. Review pfSense rules, site-to-site setup, update firmware, and optimise for speed and security. 3. Implement a tested backup strategy for Proxmox VMs, TrueNAS datasets and the listed databases, complete with restore drills. 4. Configure TrueNAS shares so that they stay consistently attached to remote desktop hosts after reboot or failover. 5. Keep Proxmox clusters patched, monitor resource usage and handle failover events. 6. Maintain Windows Server health: scheduled backups, AD cleanup, GPO review and monthly security patch roll-outs. 7. Provide a concise runbook and a monthly health report so any new technician can understand the setup in minutes. Acceptance criteria • All critical services must pass a documented fail-over and restore test. • Average VPN throughput meets or exceeds the current LAN-to-LAN average minus 10 %. • No unresolved network-related help-desk tickets remain open longer than one business day after assignment. • Backups show at least 30 days of restore points with automated integrity checks. I’m happy to grant console and remote access once an NDA is signed and will be available for quick clarifications throughout the engagement. We are looking for someone to partner with on an ongoing month to month basis, not just one-time services. Please quote your monthly retainer fee accordingly.
