Rails developer needed to update an existing codebase of around 5,000 lines to the current version of Rails and make some mods.
The app is a language school scheduling system developed specifically for english schools in Japan. It has a gettext localised eng/jap interface, ajax calendar, and user roles for teachers, students, staff and managers.
For a demo of the system in action, log into [url removed, login to view] using uid: demo, pwd: demo. The system presents different interfaces for different user roles, so poke around, create a student/teacher/staff user etc and log in, check it out.
I have a franchise interested in moving a number of schools into the system, but they need it to cater to their specific course and level system and offer automatic lesson recomendations. They also want to expand the calendar views to day/week/month views as well as a few other things.
I'd anticipate it requiring a day or so to explore the system and review the code to get familiar with it, maybe another day on Skype discussing requirements, and up to maybe 5 days to update the code and implement the mods?
So good Ruby/Rails chops are a must, as is version control with subversion. Solid DB design and xhtml/css chops would be great.
I'm located in Australia but you can be anywhere with an internet connection really.
