I imagine the probability of successful recruitment could be estimated using the probability density functions of the players' statistics of the club using maximum likelihood classification. Dear, the algorithm you need has nothing to do with machine learning. Nor is the algorithm for predicting match results (this is pure Poisson statistics). I have dealt with this a lot for the needs of sports bookmakers and I can help you create an ideal algorithm if you give me more details.

What sort of data do you have already on the players and the time frame for it? i can imagine tracking young players stats is quite hard..
