Essentially, the project involves tying outlook contacts to our internal SQL contact database, ensuring new contacts syncronize with the database and that contacts that might come in from palm pilots are also properly syncronized. Existing user contacts should also automatically enter into the database either as new entries, or merged records should that entry already exist.
The application or outlook form should check to ensure any contact being entered into the database does not already exist. If one does appear to exist, the user should be prompted to merge their record with the one in the database. A confirmation dialog should pop-up showing the contact being entered compared to the one in the system. If it is truly a new contact, a new entry in the database should be created, otherwise the record should be merged.
We have custom fields that do not have a one-to-one mapping with outlook and exchange, therefore some of the extra fields in outlook will have to be used to substitute our data into the contact form.
