My C#-based desktop trading front end now needs a direct, real-time link to Sterling Trader Pro. The goal is full API integration that goes beyond a simple data feed: live quotes and depth, every order type Sterling supports, position & risk updates, plus a back-testing harness on the same codebase so strategies can run historically before they trade live. The current application is stable and well-structured; what is missing is the Sterling layer—authentication, session management, event handling, and the conversion of our existing order objects to Sterling’s message format. All work must remain in C# and respect Sterling’s API guidelines. Deliverables • Connection module that authenticates and maintains a persistent Sterling session • Real-time market data stream wired to our existing UI models • Order router handling market, limit, stop, synthetic, and algo orders, with callbacks for partials, cancels, rejects, and fills • Risk/position synchronization pulled from Sterling at configurable intervals • Back-testing wrapper that reuses the same order/execution code path against historical data sets • Brief setup document and commented code for internal maintenance Acceptance Criteria • End-to-end execution tested on Sterling’s demo environment with sample strategies • Latency under 100 ms round-trip for market orders on a local connection • All API exceptions caught and logged without crashing the host application If you have previous Sterling Trader Pro experience—or deep familiarity with similar broker APIs—this should be a straightforward but rewarding integration project.

Hi, This project requires a robust C# integration layer that manages real-time market data, order routing, and risk synchronization with Sterling Trader Pro, while also supporting a back-testing framework on the same codebase. The main engineering risk lies in ensuring low-latency, reliable event handling and session management under Sterling’s API constraints. I typically design modular systems separating authentication, data ingestion, order execution, and back-testing logic to maintain clarity and testability. My experience with the NYSE Day Trading Bot involved similar real-time financial data integration and order management, which aligns well with your needs. I would first validate the event handling and message conversion layers to guarantee that all Sterling order types and callbacks are accurately processed. Maintaining a persistent session with robust error handling is crucial to prevent disruptions. This approach ensures a maintainable, production-ready system that can evolve as your trading strategies develop. Thanks, Hercules

Sterling's API is COM (the SterlingLib objects), so the first thing I'd settle is threading: quote and order events arrive on a COM apartment thread, not your UI thread. I'd put the whole Sterling layer behind one broker interface. The live implementation attaches to the Sterling session, subscribes quotes and depth, maps your existing order objects to STIOrder fields, and turns the order and trade update events into your callbacks for partials, cancels, rejects and fills. A second implementation replays historical data sets through the exact same order router, which gives you the back-testing harness without a separate code path. Events reach your UI models through a bounded queue with proper thread marshalling, which is also what keeps the 100 ms round-trip target realistic. Every API call sits inside a catch-and-log wrapper with a reconnect path, so a dropped session never takes the host application down, and position and risk sync runs on a configurable timer. My C# desktop background includes WPF applications for Aras Corp and cross-platform communication software for 2600Hz. Milestone one: the connection module plus live quotes wired to your UI models, tested on Sterling's demo environment, in about a week, and you release it only when it works. Is Sterling Trader Pro already running and logged in on the same machine as your app, or does the module need to handle login itself?

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer with experience building broker API integrations and trading systems. I've worked on similar projects connecting desktop applications to real-time market data and order routing platforms. I understand your challenge: connect your C# trading front end to Sterling Trader Pro without rewriting existing code. The real work is maintaining reliable sessions, converting your order objects to Sterling's format, handling all order types and callbacks, and ensuring the same code path works for both live trading and backtesting. Here's my approach: 1. **Review & Map** – Analyze Sterling's API and your codebase to identify integration points 2. **Connection Module** – Build session handling with reconnection logic 3. **Market Data** – Wire Sterling's tick events into your existing UI models 4. **Order Router** – Handle all Sterling order types, manage callbacks for partials/fills, maintain sub-100ms latency 5. **Risk Updates** – Sync positions at configurable intervals 6. **Backtesting Wrapper** – Replay historical data through the same execution code The main challenge is message format conversion and callback reliability. Sterling's API fires events asynchronously, so I'd use a queue-based event system with comprehensive logging to ensure every fill, reject, and partial update reaches your app without loss or duplication. Sterling's demo environment sometimes behaves differently than production. We'll test thoroughly on demo and document any

Hi, Thank you for posting such a clear and well-written task! As a fan of precise C# trading systems, my main skills are desktop front ends, broker API sessions, and real-time event handling, so I am very much at home wiring a live Sterling layer into a stable, well-structured application. Plus, my recent work has been connecting C# apps to broker APIs for quotes, depth, orders, and position updates, with careful session management and conversion of existing order objects into the broker’s message format. That lines up closely with your brief. I will build the Sterling connection module, stream live market data into your UI models, and route market, limit, stop, synthetic, and algo orders with callbacks for partials, cancels, rejects, and fills. I have a few questions: - Can you share a high-level look at your current order and position objects? - Will Sterling demo credentials be available from the start? I take care with persistent sessions, risk/position sync at configurable intervals, and a back-testing wrapper that reuses the same order path against historical data. All work will stay in C# and follow Sterling’s API guidelines. Exceptions will be caught and logged so the host app never crashes. You will get commented code, a short setup note, and end-to-end tests on Sterling’s demo environment, with market-order round-trip latency kept under 100 ms on a local connection. Looking forward to working with you. Best regards, Diah

Hello, The missing piece is a persistent Sterling Trader Pro integration layer that fits cleanly into the existing C# application rather than disturbing the stable frontend. The integration needs to handle Sterling session/authentication state, streaming quotes and depth, complete order lifecycle events, and position/risk synchronization while translating the application’s existing order objects into Sterling-compatible messages. The back-testing requirement also makes a shared execution abstraction important so historical and live strategies do not develop separate behavior. Here’s my approach to the project: I’d isolate Sterling behind a dedicated C# connection/API adapter with explicit session and reconnect state handling, event-driven market-data processing, and an order router that maps each existing order type into Sterling’s supported message structure Testing would cover Sterling demo execution, reconnects, all order lifecycle states, exception recovery, historical/live parity, and measured round-trip latency against the 100 ms target. I’ve built similar C#-based trading integrations with broker APIs before, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I’ll implement a persistent connection module with Sterling’s auth flow, then wire real-time market data and order routing—handling all order types with proper callbacks. The back-testing wrapper will reuse the same execution path, and I’ll ensure latency stays under 100ms. All exceptions will be caught and logged, and I’ll validate everything in Sterling’s demo environment. I can start immediately. Thanks, Andrii.

The tricky part is keeping live execution and back-testing on the same order path without letting historical execution assumptions leak into the live Sterling session. I'll build the Sterling integration in C#, covering persistent authentication/session handling, real-time quotes and depth, order routing, fills/rejects, positions and risk updates. I'll also connect the back-testing harness to the existing order/execution models, then test the complete flow against Sterling's demo environment with logging and failure handling. One important catch: the 100 ms target needs to be measured around the actual Sterling API round trip, not just application processing, so I'll instrument those boundaries separately. 1. Which Sterling API package/version and authentication method is your current account provisioned for? 2. Does your existing C# order model already represent synthetic and algo orders, or do those need a mapping layer? 3. Which historical data format will the back-testing harness receive? Thanks Shayan

Hi, there. "STERLING TRADER PRO C# API INTEGRATION" - you need the existing C# trading application connected directly to Sterling for live market data, order execution, positions, risk, and historical back-testing through a consistent code path. I’d keep the Sterling layer isolated behind connection, market-data, order-routing, and position/risk services, mapping your existing order objects into Sterling’s API format without disturbing the current UI architecture. I’d handle persistent sessions, reconnects, partial fills, cancels, rejects, and exceptions explicitly, then run the full flow in Sterling’s demo environment before validating the latency target. For back-testing, I’d reuse the same order/execution abstractions with a historical data adapter so strategy behaviour can be compared between simulated and live execution without duplicating trading logic. Which Sterling Trader Pro API version/documentation and demo environment access are available for the integration? Looking forward to working with you.

The important architectural decision here is keeping Sterling-specific connectivity separate from your existing order/execution model, so the same strategy path can later run against either live Sterling events or a historical backtest transport. I would start by integrating the Sterling session, quote/depth events, position synchronization and core order lifecycle in C#, including reconnect handling, partial fills, rejects, cancels and structured exception logging. For the first milestone I would also instrument execution latency and establish the abstraction required for the backtesting wrapper rather than duplicating strategy logic between live and historical modes. I would first verify your exact Sterling API/SDK version, broker entitlements and supported destinations, since available order/algo capabilities can depend on that environment. I can start immediately after award.

I can deliver a full C# integration between your desktop trading front end and Sterling Trader Pro, covering authentication/session persistence, real-time quotes + depth streaming, and a production-grade order router for every Sterling-supported order type (market, limit, stop, synthetic, and algo). I’ll wire all Sterling events into your existing UI models, with reliable callbacks for partial fills, cancels, rejects, and full fills. To keep execution safe and maintainable, I’ll implement risk/position synchronization via Sterling data at configurable intervals, plus robust exception handling that logs API errors without crashing the host. For strategy development, I’ll add a back-testing harness that reuses the same execution/order code path against historical datasets, so what you validate is what you trade. The deliverables also include a brief setup document and commented code for internal maintenance, and end-to-end testing on Sterling’s demo environment using sample strategies, targeting <100 ms round-trip for market orders on a local connection.

Hi there, The main goal is to add a reliable Sterling Trader Pro layer to your existing C# desktop application without disrupting the codebase you already have working. I’d structure the integration around a persistent connection module for authentication and session recovery, then map Sterling events into your existing UI models for live quotes, depth, positions, and risk updates. The order router would use a single execution path for market, limit, stop, synthetic, and algo orders, with proper handling for partial fills, cancels, rejects, and exceptions. I’d also keep the back-testing wrapper close to the live execution model so strategies can be validated historically without maintaining separate logic. I think you are building for reliability first: stable event handling, clear logging, low latency, and safe recovery when the API disconnects. Looking forward to work with you. Thanks
