I am trying to move a specific file (a quiz) from one site (instructor site) to another site (student site) when a button called Release test one is selected. I have a list on the instructor site called Quizzes with each quiz listed and the option for Release in a column with values true or false. The Quiz 1 button clicked should change the value in the list from False to True. Then the file should move to a library on the student site, where the students can now access the quiz. Once the student submits their quiz answers (Microsoft Forms), the quiz should be compared against, an answer key list (Answer key 1) and the number of matching (ergo correct) answers should be recorded in another list called Student Tracker, in the Column called Quiz 1 score. next to the student's name. Lastly, the power automate flow should email the professor the quiz was submitted by (student name). This may be several flows. Please help. I've tried to build this for last 8 days and I get errors. When i try to troubleshoot with Co-pilot, still just never works. Included a zipped export of what I have so far.

Hi, I can help you sort this Power Automate setup out. Your flow has a few connected parts, so the main job here is to rebuild/fix the logic cleanly so the quiz release, file move, score calculation, Student Tracker update, and professor email all work together reliably. I’ve handled similar automation troubleshooting work before and can also review what you already built instead of starting blindly from scratch. If you want, I can outline the exact flow structure here first before we begin.

To automate the quiz flow between the instructor and student sites, I can implement a series of Power Automate workflows that will efficiently manage the file transfer and scoring process. When the "Release test one" button is clicked, I will set up an automation to update the quiz status and move the corresponding file to the student site. Upon student submission via Microsoft Forms, I will create another flow to compare their answers against the answer key, tally the scores, and update the Student Tracker list accordingly. Additionally, I will ensure that an email notification is sent to the professor with the student's name included. I specialize in workflow automation, API integrations, and have a proven track record with a 4.9-star rating across 200 client reviews and 220 projects completed. What specific errors have you encountered while troubleshooting your current flows?

I’ve built and optimized SharePoint-to-SharePoint automation flows with Power Automate for document release pipelines and form-to-list scoring integrations before, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I’ll split this into two distinct flows: the first triggers on the instructor site when “Release test one” is clicked, flips the Quizzes list’s Release column to True, then copies the target quiz file to the student site library via Send an HTTP request to SharePoint (PATCH + GET + POST). The second flow runs on form submission, pulls the student’s answers and the Answer key 1 list, calculates the score via a Select action and length expression, writes it to Student Tracker under Quiz 1 score next to the student’s name, then sends an approval-style email to the professor. I’ll log each run in the flow history and add a concurrency control step to prevent race conditions during the file copy. Expect a zipped solution you can import and minimal reconfiguration for your list names and column internal names. I can start immediately. Thanks, Andrii.

Hi, I’ve worked on similar Microsoft 365 automation where SharePoint lists, Forms, and Power Automate flows need to work together reliably, so I understand how frustrating it can be when a flow appears correct but fails across multiple steps. The key challenge here is keeping the release status, quiz availability, Forms submission, answer-key comparison, scoring, and professor notification synchronized. I’d review your existing exported flows first, identify the failure points, then structure this as a small set of reliable flows rather than forcing everything into one. I’ll implement the release trigger, student-side quiz availability, automated scoring into Student Tracker, and professor email notification, with error handling and testing at each stage. Best Regards, Fizza

Hi there, Thank you for sharing the details of your automated quiz workflow project. I completely understand the challenges you've encountered in connecting SharePoint, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms into a seamless process, especially when handling multiple flows and cross-site automation. With extensive experience in SharePoint automation, JavaScript, API integration, and Power Automate, I have developed robust solutions for educational and enterprise clients that involve similar workflows—moving files between sites, updating list items based on trigger actions, parsing form submissions, and sending dynamic notifications. For your project, my approach would be to streamline the process into logical flows: 1. **Quiz Release Flow**: When "Release test one" is selected, the flow updates the 'Release' column in the Quizzes list, then moves the quiz file from the instructor site to the student library, ensuring permissions are set for student access. 2. **Submission & Grading Flow**: Once a student submits the quiz via Microsoft Forms, Power Automate retrieves their responses, compares them to the corresponding Answer Key list, calculates the score, and updates the Student Tracker list in the appropriate column. 3. **Notification Flow**: Upon successful submission and scoring, the flow triggers an email notification to the professor with details of which student submitted the quiz. I will ensure each flow is error-handled, clearly documented, and tested for reliability. If you provide your existing zipped export, I’ll review your current setup to identify and resolve the issues you’ve faced, leveraging best practices for SharePoint and Power Automate integration. I look forward to helping you achieve a smooth, automated quiz workflow that saves you time and delivers accurate results. Please feel free to share any further details or specific requirements you have in mind. Best regards, DemiVision, LLC

Hello, "Power Automate Flow With SharePoint Triggers" - you need to move quiz files, update status, score answers and email the professor automatically. I’ll set a SharePoint list trigger on the Release button, use a Move File action to copy the quiz to the student library, then a second flow that reads the Forms response, looks up the answer key list with a filtered Get Items query, calculates the match count and writes it to the Student Tracker list. This keeps the UI fast and handles permission checks cleanly. I automated a similar file‑move workflow for Reolink cloud backups: https://www.freelancer.com/projects/automation/Automate-Reolink-Video-Backup-Script/reviews If two quizzes share the same filename, the flow will append a timestamp to avoid overwriting existing files. Do you have the exact SharePoint site URLs and the internal column names for the Quizzes, Answer key and Student Tracker lists? Looking forward to working with you. Artur Giżycki

Hi. I can build the automated flow that transfers quiz files from your instructor site to the student site without manual steps. I have built API integration solutions using JavaScript to connect different platforms and move structured data reliably between systems. For this project, I will use JavaScript to handle the file transfer logic and API Integration to authenticate and communicate between both sites, ensuring the quiz content arrives intact with all metadata preserved. Here is how I will approach this: - Set up authentication and API connections to both the instructor and student sites to enable secure file access and transfer - Build the transfer logic in JavaScript that reads the quiz file structure from the source, validates the content, and writes it to the destination site - Test the complete flow with sample quizzes to confirm formatting, questions, and settings carry over correctly Does the quiz file include media assets like images or videos that also need to transfer, or is it purely text and question data? I can start immediately and will keep you updated through Freelancer messages as I build and test each component. Best regards, Jordan Rafael

Hi — Bravion here from Cleveland. I understand you need a Power Automate solution to move quiz files between SharePoint sites, update list values, compare Microsoft Forms responses against an answer key, record scores, and notify the professor by email. Here’s how I can help: - Build multiple Power Automate flows to handle each step reliably: updating the quiz release status, moving files, processing form submissions, and updating the Student Tracker list. - Use SharePoint connectors and Microsoft Forms integration to ensure smooth data flow and error handling. - Implement logic to compare student answers with the answer key and calculate scores automatically. - Configure email notifications with dynamic content to alert the professor when a quiz is submitted. Could you please clarify: 1) Are the quizzes and answer keys stored in SharePoint lists or libraries, and are they consistently formatted? 2) Do you want the email notification to include detailed results or just a simple alert? I’m confident I can resolve the errors you’ve encountered and deliver a stable, maintainable automation. Looking forward to helping you get this working perfectly!

Hello, I can handle this SharePoint and Power Automate setup for you. Built a similar quiz automation last month—moved files between sites, updated list values, and sent confirmation emails without errors after fixing a permissions oversight. I’d approach this using Power Automate’s cloud flows triggered by the "Release test" button, combined with SharePoint list updates and Microsoft Forms triggers. The key is setting correct permissions on both sites and testing each step separately before connecting them. This keeps the workflow stable and avoids overcomplicating the logic. Students get immediate access to quizzes, scores auto-record to Student Tracker, and professors receive submissions right away. I’ll review your export, fix the flow step-by-step, and include two weeks of support to ensure it runs smoothly without errors. Happy to review your current setup and suggest the safest approach before making changes. Thanks, Lazar.

Got it, this sounds like a Power Automate + SharePoint (Microsoft Lists) workflow that needs to reliably coordinate three things: (1) flip the Release flag from False to True when “Release test one” is clicked, (2) copy/move the corresponding quiz file from the instructor site to the student library and then ensure students can access it, and (3) when Microsoft Forms is submitted, compare responses against “Answer key 1” and write the Quiz 1 score into Student Tracker next to the student name, then email the professor with the student and submission details. I can review the zipped export, identify the exact failure points, and rebuild the flows with consistent identifiers (quiz/file mapping), robust triggers, correct list lookups, and defensive error handling so it runs end-to-end instead of intermittently failing. Let’s get your Release test one button path and your Forms scoring path both working deterministically.

Hello, I have carefully reviewed your project requirements for creating an automated quiz flow involving moving files between instructor and student sites, updating quiz release statuses, comparing student quiz answers with an answer key, and sending automated emails to professors. Let's chat and discuss it further. To handle your project, I will start with creating separate Power Automate flows for each task - one for updating quiz release statuses based on button clicks, another for comparing student quiz answers with answer keys, and a final flow for sending automated emails to professors. I will utilize Microsoft Power Automate along with Microsoft Forms and SharePoint libraries to seamlessly automate these processes. The deliverables of this project include fully functional Power Automate flows for updating quiz statuses, comparing student answers, and sending automated emails to professors. Before signing-off my bid, I would like to ask a question, i.e., how many quizzes are there in total that need to be automated in this process? Best Regards, Aneesa.

Hi, I’d be happy to help you get this workflow working properly. I understand you’re trying to create a complete quiz process where the instructor can release a quiz, students can access it, submissions are graded automatically, scores are tracked, and the professor is notified without manual work. It sounds like you already have the foundation built, but the current Power Automate setup is running into errors and the different parts are not communicating correctly. I can review your existing export, understand how your SharePoint lists and Forms are connected, and fix the workflow so it works reliably instead of constantly breaking during troubleshooting. I’ll focus on improving what you already created and making the final setup easy to reuse for future quizzes. Once everything is connected correctly, the process should feel seamless from the instructor clicking release all the way through grading and notification. I’d like to review your current flow and error points so I can quickly identify what needs to be adjusted.

Hi, I understand the workflow you’re trying to build, and I can help you get it working end-to-end rather than continuing to patch individual Power Automate errors. The flow I understand is: Instructor selects “Release Quiz 1” → Quiz 1 Release changes False → True → Quiz becomes available in the Student site → Student submits Microsoft Form → Answers are compared with “Answer Key 1” → Correct answers are counted → Score is written to the student’s “Quiz 1 Score” column → Professor receives an email with the student’s name. I’d separate this into a few smaller Power Automate flows so each part is easier to test and maintain: Quiz Release Flow – detect the release change and make the quiz available to students. Submission/Scoring Flow – trigger from Microsoft Forms, retrieve the answers, compare them with the answer key, calculate the score, and update Student Tracker. Notification Flow – email the appropriate professor after successful submission. I can also review the exported flows you’ve already built, identify where the errors are coming from, and reuse the working parts instead of rebuilding everything unnecessarily. Please send/share the ZIP export and I’ll work from your existing setup. Best, Abhishek

I can help untangle this into reliable, testable Power Automate flows rather than trying to force everything into one workflow. I’d separate quiz release/copying, Forms submission + answer-key grading, Student Tracker updates, and professor notifications, with clear IDs and conditions between each step. I have experience with SharePoint, Power Automate, API integrations, and workflow troubleshooting. I’d also review your exported flows, identify where the current errors originate, and rebuild the failing logic so Quiz 1 can be tested end-to-end before extending it to additional quizzes. Could you share the zipped export so I can pinpoint the current failure points? Best regards, Code and Command
