When considering stocking and display planning, move from measurement in feets and inches to terms of number of packs.
So on a shelf, whats important is the facings of the sku (number of facings = width) and how many packs stacked in the column (depth)
Depth is limited by design of shelf so the most important thing to change is the facings to ensure the basic planogram principles are met.

From a planogram perspective within the category :
Cold Zones are location where the shopper will not naturally interact.
Hot Zones are the locations where the shopper most naturally interacts.
From a physical perspective…
Hot Zones are at eye level and in easy reach of hands
Colds zones are on high and low shelves that don’t stand out and are difficult to reach
Rule of thumb to use Hot/Cold Zone:
Place priority to sell items ( about to enter expiry zone, high profit, new launch etc) in the Hot Zone.
Place lesser priority/ specialized demand items in cold zone.
Place very heavy items in the bottom shelves to avoid risk of injury by falling packs to shoppers.
