By the way, I would recommend to use optoisolators instead of resistive voltage dividers because maximal voltage of the spikes on vehicle power line may reach 60 or even 100 volts. If that occurs - Arduino board can be damaged. Using of 5.1V zener diodes is also possible, but less reliable. Hello, This is a simple project i will be happy to assist with. I assume you are using a push up button correct/? since it doesnt remain down after first press and you need to press again to turn off(in the hardware connection, it is normally opened) for the first condition, i will use a for loop that instructs for when button is pressed once, so it will count how many times button is pressed. if int x=0 digitalWrite(button,HIGH) This will select the message from the dip switch and loops. when it breaks out of the loop is when button is pressed again to digitalWrite(button, LOW) i.e if int x=1. Also noting that the message will be controlled independently from the loop function. withing the void setup is where i will write the if else and else if conditions for the message.
