I’m creating a picture book for children aged five to eight that follows one curious youngster on an adventure with her dogs through a forest beside her home. The look I’m after is traditional and realistic, with a muted water-colour palette in the spirit of Ernest Shepard or Peggy Fortnum. Pen-and-ink line work with subtle washes will suit the tone perfectly: full of adventure and a touch of mystery, yet always warm and reassuring. Scope • 12–15 finished illustrations ranging from full-page spreads to small vignettes. • Rough pencil thumbnails for composition approval before you move on to clean line art. • Final art delivered as high-resolution, print-ready scans (300 dpi TIFF or PSD) plus web-friendly JPEGs for marketing.
