Revenge Tragedy essay

Must be completed before 11:59pm 11/09 Revenge tragedy is often considered to be an extremely serious genre of work, in the sense that it deals with enormously difficult subjects: rape,incest,murder and so on. Such subjects don't apparently seem to fit with a lighthearted method of treatment. And yet, in both " The Revenger's Tragedy" and " The White Devil", humor is a substantial part of the characterizations and is a readily obvious feature of the plot. Nor is this only departure from " standard" revenge tragedy practice in the two plays;odd structures, methods of revenge and unusual characters abound in both works. Write a cogent and well conceived FIVE PAGES essay in which you take either one of the two plays mentioned above and analyze the extent to which it departs from standard conventions of theater and revenge tragedy specifically.
