I need a programmer/developer for different projects and updates. My present programmer just took on full time work so I need someone to do miscelaneaous things weekly, probably 5-10 hrs/ week. I have a real estate site, and I have customers who have their own sites within my site. They log in post houses etc which feeds their site, my lotsAPeoples. com site and feeds other national real estate sites. Here is the site [url removed, login to view] I also have a new home site that I want to replace this site with [url removed, login to view]~lotsapeo/ this site is Joomla and has some of the functions embedded, particulary the "Find a Place" and the "Login to Your LapTop" which directs them to features from the old site. This site is on a Linux server and my present site is on a Windows Cloud server. I am wanting the domain [url removed, login to view] to point to the new site, but I am having problems. I am not to computer literate but the folloing is what my Cloud server company says needs to be done:
It is, to my understanding, that there is a front-facing login page using Linux-specific Joomla add-ons which, once logged in, would direct to a login/members area that would be hosted on our Public Cloud.
Due to the way DNS works, it would not be possible for [url removed, login to view] to point to both the linux server, and our public cloud. What can be done, however, is to host [url removed, login to view] on the linux server, and once you are ready to direct logged in members to the public cloud site, direct them to a subdomain such as [url removed, login to view] or whatever subdomain name you think would fit best for this area for logged in members as a seperate IP can be used for each subdomain in DNS, meaning that you could have DNS pointing to the Linux server for one subdomain, and to the public cloud for another, but not both to the same subdomain. Unfortunately, we would be unable to assist you in the specifics of setting this up outside of handling DNS for you, as it would fall outside the scope of our support and within the realm of a development/coding issue which we would not be equipped to assist you with.
Some things to keep in mind: the domain itself, [url removed, login to view], should be hosted on the cloud, to make sure that all traffic aside from the www. subdomain is directed to the cloud. However, you would want to redirect from this to the www. subdomain to make sure that the Linux hosted subdomain is front-facing when a visitor enters either [url removed, login to view] or www.lotsapeoples.com.
Once development for this is done, it would just be a matter of changing the www A Record in Hosted DNS to point to the Linux server while the rest of the site points to the Public Cloud, and we could certainly do this if you are at all uncomfortable in doing so.
I've advised Karen to speak with both you and the other developer, Roy, regarding this issue to make sure that all the coding and development is properly worked out, if this is a viable solution for you, before changing DNS again to avoid any downtime to the site in it's current state.
If I am misunderstanding any of this, and there is anything we can do to assist, please clarify and we'll happily do what we can to assist!
Again I am looking for someone for the long run. So please supply an hourly rate. Thank you for your consideration
