To design a mould for the manufacture of a composite shell. To select the appropriate tools, feeds and speeds for the machining process. To use CAD/CAM tools to visualise the machining process and generate the toolpaths and NC code required to efficiently machine a mould. You are required to use CAD/CAM software (hyperMILL) to generate tool paths for the machining of an aluminium (6061) mould for the manufacture of a composite shell for a remote control car. The design of the mould for the RC car is up to you but you must keep in mind design for manufacture issues relevant to this manufacturing method. The complexity of the shell will have no influence on the mark of the assignment, so keep it simple. Once you have created the mould design you are to select the roughing and finishing cutting tools (material, length, shape, diameter etc) for machining the mould from the stock material. You may choose to use the same tools for the roughing and finishing stages. You will also need to select the correct speeds and feeds to suit the tool and work piece material using speeds and feeds charts.
