I need a construction surveyor who can take full charge of the structural steel layout on a fast-paced commercial project just outside Atlanta, Georgia. The frame is going up quickly, so I’m looking for someone who already knows their way around robotic total stations, GPS units, and 3D laser scanners and can back that field expertise up with clean, defensible data inside AutoCAD or Civil 3D. Your field experience (at least three solid years) should include erecting structural steel, shooting column lines, and checking alignment before and after every crane pick. The superintendent will rely on your layout marks and as-builts to release fabrication and hold the erector accountable, so accuracy is everything—think ±1/16" on column centers and no surprises when the next sequence lands. Core responsibilities • Structural steel layout—base plates, anchor bolts, and beam lines • Column placement verification before bolt-up • Continuous alignment checks and as-built reporting Required instruments • Robotic Total Stations • GPS (RTK or network) • 3D laser scanners for clash/control scans Deliverables • Daily layout files and coordinate reports (DWG and CSV) • Weekly as-built point cloud or scan data, registered and clipped • A final signed control network and deviation summary at turnover If you can mobilize quickly, keep meticulous notes, and push clean files to the design team without hand-holding, let’s get you on site.
