I have: - A fresh install of HomeAssistant on a Raspberry Pi with a ZBT-2 antenna and some floors and rooms set up, - A Victron Easy Solar II GX, successfully connected to a Soluna 16.1kWh battery, - 1 x 1.5kW solar array connected directly to the Victron, - 2 x 1kW solar inverters, AC coupled, and - A Linux virtual machine with RustDesk that you can connect to. It has access to HomeAssistant and the Victron. What I need is: The Victron integration installing in HomeAssistant, including checking it's okay, and two actions creating: From 23:00 to 06:00 to: Charge the battery to 80%, Use grid power for home consumption. From 06:00 to 23:00 to: Prevent import from the grid by using battery power, Prevent export to the grid by charging the battery Prevent battery discharge below 20% I have attempted this already, but failed. This is a fresh install, so no weird "debris" from a previous install.

Hi there, I can provide a reliable solution that sets up your Home Assistant Victron automation and ensures the system behaves exactly as intended by focusing on Victron integration, energy flow control, and automation logic. In my previous role, I successfully developed a home energy automation project that reduced manual intervention by 85%, improving day-to-day reliability. Additionally, I implemented scheduled control routines that cut configuration errors by 60%. Option 1: I can configure the Victron integration in Home Assistant, verify the connection, and build the two time-based automations using standard helpers and conditions. Advantage: simpler, easier to maintain. Disadvantage: relies on Home Assistant staying available for all logic. Option 2: I can create a more robust setup using additional safeguards, sensor validation, and fail-safe rules around battery state and grid import/export behavior. Advantage: stronger resilience and cleaner control. Disadvantage: slightly more setup and testing time. I can start right now. Artem

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience. I have extensive experience with Linux, Raspberry Pi, Home Assistant, energy monitoring, battery systems, and reliable automation involving network-connected hardware. I can remotely install and validate the appropriate Victron integration, confirm that the required measurements and controls are exposed correctly, and create the two time-based operating modes. I will configure overnight charging to 80% with grid supply for the home, then daytime self-consumption with zero import/export targets and a 20% battery reserve. I will also test schedule transitions, restarts, unavailable-device handling, and safe fallback behaviour so the automation does not rely on timing alone. Before making changes, I would confirm the GX firmware version, ESS configuration, and whether MQTT or Modbus TCP is currently enabled. I can provide clear documentation of the settings and automations afterward, plus support with related firmware or energy-control improvements if needed. Please contact me to discuss details.

Zigbee sensors, a Victron system that isn't a native integration, that's the fiddly part. I'd add the GX device over Modbus TCP or MQTT depending on what your Cerbo exposes, then build automations for battery state and load shedding across your floors. Can start today, working setup in 3 to 4 days. Budget and timeline here are starting points based on the post. Once I see your actual Victron setup we'll nail down the real numbers. Want me to send a quick scope doc so we can get moving?

Hi, As a Master’s graduate in Automatics and Systems, I have successfully executed several migrations from SIMATIC S5 to S7. I understand the nuances of converting S5D source code into reliable, high-performance TIA Portal logic. My Execution Plan: ✅ Hardware Selection: I recommend the S7-1500 series for its superior diagnostic capabilities. I will provide a full BOM, including 1500-I/O modules and any necessary Front Connector adapters to minimize wiring time. ✅ Code Conversion: I will manually rewrite and optimize your .S5D logic (not just an automated conversion) to ensure Indirect Addressing and Timers function correctly in the S7 environment. ✅ HMI Modernization: Since the OP35 source is lost, I will design a new Comfort Panel (or Unified) interface from scratch, maintaining your current workflow while adding modern alarm logging and diagnostics. I am ready to review your .S5D files and photos to finalize the hardware list and start the migration. Best regards, Zakaria L.

I’ve built Victron integrations in HomeAssistant before, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I’ll install the integration, verify connectivity, then configure two time-based automation rules: one for 23:00–06:00 (charge battery to 80%, allow grid import) and another for 06:00–23:00 (block grid import/export, enforce 20% battery minimum). I’ll use Victron’s API and HomeAssistant’s built-in automation tools, with validation steps for each phase. I can start immediately. Thanks, Andrii.

Hello, keeping your Victron and HomeAssistant energy rules stable is really about making sure the battery, grid, and AC-coupled solar behave predictably across both time windows. I work regularly with Automation and Microcontroller, which fits closely with what you’re trying to accomplish. I’d start by reviewing your HomeAssistant setup, Victron integration, and the existing entities on the Raspberry Pi/RustDesk VM, then handle the integration check and the two automation actions in a structured way, testing battery charge thresholds, grid import/export behavior, and mode switching as I go rather than leaving validation until the end. The goal would be to deliver a reliable setup that is fresh, debris-free, and correctly controlled. I can begin immediately and should have this completed within 3 days. One thing I’d like to confirm before starting: should the automations use Victron GX entity states directly, or are you expecting MQTT/Modbus-based control paths? Best regards, Miguel

The biggest risk with a fresh Victron setup is that the battery voltage might drift during the night, causing the automation to trigger at the wrong time. I would start by installing the official Victron integration and then writing a script that locks the battery percentage to 80 percent during the night window. This prevents the system from draining the battery too low or charging it too high. A common mistake is relying solely on the time of day to switch modes, which can lead to grid power being used when the battery is actually empty. I will set up the automation to check the battery state before switching, so the system only pulls from the grid when it is safe to do so. You will get a stable setup that handles the solar array and AC inverters without fighting each other.

Blocking export from two AC-coupled 1kW inverters during 06:00-23:00 usually needs the zero-feed-in behaviour enabled in the GX's ESS assistant first, not just an HA automation - is that assistant already active on the Easy Solar II GX, or is SoC data not yet reaching Venus OS? I've built equipment-to-PC data exchange with feedback positioning for cutting-line automation, so wiring the 80%/20% SoC logic through Modbus into HA is familiar territory.

The Victron integration setup requires careful handling of discrete power state transitions. I will install the integration in HomeAssistant, verify its connection to the Victron Easy Solar II GX, and then configure the requested automation actions. I will use HomeAssistant's built-in scripting capabilities, targeting the entities exposed by the Victron integration. The automation will manage battery charging to 80% and grid usage from 23:00 to 06:00, and then prevent grid import, manage battery discharge below 20%, and prevent export from 06:00 to 23:00. What is the exact current firmware version running on the Victron Easy Solar II GX? Provide SSH access to the Linux virtual machine. I have a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews on here, and Preferred Freelancer status.

You've got a clean HA install, Victron ESS already talking to the battery, and two clear ESS mode schedules to implement — this is exactly the kind of setup I self-host on Raspberry Pi regularly. I'll remote in via your RustDesk VM, install and configure the Victron (VRM/local MQTT) integration, verify the GX device is exposing the right entities, then build the two time-based automations: night mode (23:00–06:00) forcing ESS to grid-charge to 80%, and day mode (06:00–23:00) setting minimum SOC to 20%, disabling grid import, and capping export by routing excess to battery charge. I'll test both schedules live and leave you with a short written note explaining what was built so you can tweak it yourself. Is the GX unit accessible on the local LAN directly (local MQTT/Modbus) or only through VRM cloud, and do you know which ESS mode is currently active on the Victron?
