Yomama Investments YOMAMA Investments is an existing single-player web prototype: a Bloomberg-style retail "terminal" wrapped around a playful economy game (buildings, production, marketplace) and a paper-trading engine. It is plain HTML/CSS/JS with no build step; all state lives in browser localStorage under one hardcoded account. The job: turn this into a working classroom prototype for ~30 high school students playing simultaneously, run by a teacher, with a two-act game loop: Act 1 — Students play the existing buildings/production/marketplace economy to earn in-game cash. This teaches earning, costs, and opportunity cost. Works as a classic idle management/economic simulation game. Act 2 —Reaching a cash or level threshold unlocks the trading floor. Students invest the capital they earned into a paper-trading portfolio using real, delayed market prices. This teaches investing, risk, and discipline. Students play solo runs; there is no player-to-player trading or but there is shared supply/demand economics. Users and Roles Student (~30 per class). Joins with a class code and a display name. Plays Act 1, unlocks Act 2, trades, checks the leaderboard. Sessions span multiple class periods over ~4 weeks; progress must persist across days and devices. Teacher (1 per class). Creates a class, gets a join code, monitors every student's progress and portfolio, can reset a student, can pause/end the contest, sees the leaderboard with detail the students don't (e.g., trade history per student). Milestones M1 - Game design & balance plan: A short design document (2–4 pages) reviewing the current game: what stays, what gets cut, what gets added to make it fun. Includes difficulty targets and a list of every adjustable game value (prices, payouts, unlock threshold, stock list, contest dates). Owner and teacher read it, agree with the plan, and give written approval. No code is built before this approval. M2 - Accounts & backend: A live website where a teacher can create a class and get a join code, and students can join with that code, pick a display name, and get their own saved account. All game progress is stored on the server, not in the student's browser. 30 test accounts join one class. A student closes the browser, comes back the next day on a different device, and their progress is still there. M3- The economy game (Act 1): The buildings/production/marketplace game, rebuilt per the approved design doc, running against the server. Resources keep accruing between class periods. All game numbers can be adjusted from a settings file without programming. A student plays a full session and progress saves correctly. Changing a price in the settings file changes it in the game. A student who edits values in their browser's developer tools sees no effect on their real score. M4 - The stock market game (Act 2): Once a student's cash reaches the set threshold, the trading floor unlocks. Students buy and sell from a curated list of real stocks/ETFs at real prices. They see their holdings, profit/loss, and trade history. A test student earns the unlock, buys a stock, and their portfolio value moves with the real market price. An order for more than the student can afford is rejected. Automated tests for the money math pass. M5 - Teacher dashboard & leaderboard: The teacher sees every student's net worth, progress, holdings, and last activity; can reset a student, pause the game, set the contest dates and unlock threshold, and download results as a spreadsheet. Students see a class leaderboard ranked by total net worth. The teacher performs each of those actions successfully in a walkthrough. The leaderboard updates. M6 - Playtest, polish & pilot A small-group playtest (5–8 students) is run, feedback and balance fixes are applied, and then the full class pilot: 30 students playing at once for a full class period on school Chromebooks. Includes final documentation and cleanup of leftover files. The 30-student session runs for an hour with no crashes and no lost progress.

✅ Hello, YOMAMA needs to move from one localStorage account to server accounts for ~30 students, with teacher class codes, persistent Act 1 economy, and delayed-price paper trading in Act 2. We would start with the M1 design/balance doc and data model before coding. - Build Laravel + PostgreSQL backend, keeping the plain JS UI where practical. - Design REST API with teacher/student auth, class codes, roles, and saves. - Add delayed market prices, curated symbols, trade ledger, and CSV export. - Cover money math with tests and deploy to VPS or managed hosting. We are Webcapitan, a Ukraine studio with 8+ years, Preferred Freelancer status, and 5★ across 580+ reviews. Is the current prototype code ready to share, and should we keep it no-build or allow Vite? Which market data provider do you prefer, or should we propose one with delayed US quotes? Please let me know your thoughts. Looking forward, Roman

Hi, I can help move this from a browser prototype to a classroom-safe, server-backed game where 30 students can retain progress across devices and the teacher can manage the session. I’ve worked on backend/account systems, session-based game state, and careful game logic where save integrity and math accuracy matter. My first priority would be the backend/account layer and class join flow to secure progress before any balance changes. Then I’d rebuild Act 1 against server state, add the Act 2 unlock, and implement validated buy/sell logic, price updates, and teacher controls. I’d keep all adjustable values in a settings/config file so balance changes don’t require code edits, and I’d test portfolio and delayed-price calculations carefully for a classroom pilot. Initial focus: Class creation and join code Student accounts and saved progress Server-side game state Act 1 balance/config Act 2 unlock and trade validation Estimated timeline: I can share a clear implementation plan after reviewing the current prototype, but the first phase would focus on securing persistence and session control before gameplay changes.

Hello, I am confident I'm the right fit for your project. With my 10+ years of experience in PHP and JavaScript, I have mastered their ins and outs, making me capable of delivering a robust web-based classroom prototype. As an expert in WordPress and Laravel, building a live website where teachers can create and manage classes will be smooth for me. I solidly understand that student sessions need to persist across multiple class periods with progress saved in accounts on the server, not in the browser-local storage. I can assure you, even if a student closes their browser or switches devices, their progress would still be there when they return. My skills extend beyond just building the platform; I create streamlined user experiences. Hence, any changes made to game values (prices, payouts, unlock thresholds) can be easily managed from a settings file without my intervention, ensuring flexibility and time-saving during live sessions. Moreover, mentoring every student's progress and devising a detailed teacher dashboard as requested poses no challenge to me. With thorough documentation, I'll make sure every function is readily at your disposal. Finally, my extensive experience with large scale projects ensures that everything from coordinating distribution to deploying on cloud platforms will be handled smoothly with utmost priority given to maintaining data security and privacy. Don't just take my word for it! Let's start with a sm Thanks!

Hi, I’d approach this as a staged rebuild, starting with M1 so the existing prototype is reviewed and the game economy, progression, stock list, and adjustable values are agreed before development begins. The most important architectural change is moving state from localStorage to a server-backed system. That gives each student a persistent account across devices while keeping scores and game values protected from client-side manipulation. I’d then build Act 1 around the approved balance plan, followed by the trading floor with delayed real-market data, portfolio calculations, trade history, and automated money-math tests. The teacher dashboard would cover class management, student monitoring, resets, contest controls, leaderboard data, and spreadsheet export. I’d also treat the 30-student Chromebook pilot as a real acceptance test, including persistence, concurrency, and stability. Best, Ivane

Hi, The part that decides this project is moving state off localStorage without breaking the no-build feel. We took a prototype in exactly that spot and rebuilt it on a proper server foundation with authoritative scoring, so a student editing values in dev tools sees no change to their real score. The score-tampering test in M3 is the real design driver. If the browser can't be trusted, Act 1 economy math and Act 2 order checks have to run server-side, with the client only rendering. That shapes M2 too, since accounts and progress must persist across days and devices. One question: do you want delayed prices pulled live per trade, or a periodic server snapshot all 30 students share? Would you approve M1 as a paid first milestone, so you only release on the design doc? Adil

The key issue is not just making the game multiplayer, but making it trustworthy in a classroom setting where progress has to survive weeks of use on school Chromebooks and different devices. I’d rebuild the prototype into a server-backed app with separate teacher/student roles, protected save data, class-based sessions, and a balance layer so the economy unlock and trading flow feel fair and teachable. I’ve worked on custom dashboards, role-based systems, and browser apps that needed to move from local-only behavior to proper backend-backed persistence. In your case, the important part is getting the foundation right first: design/balance approval, then accounts and saving, then Act 1 progression, then the trading module, then teacher controls and leaderboard polish so the pilot does not fall apart under real classroom use. I can also structure the adjustable values so contest dates, thresholds, prices, payouts, and stock lists are easy to update without touching core logic. - Do you want the teacher dashboard to support multiple classes at once from one teacher account? - Should the leaderboard refresh live, or is periodic updating acceptable for the pilot? - Do you want downloadable results as CSV only, or Excel format as well?

Hi, I’m Christina, a developer, and I understand this isn’t just a game rebuild—it’s a classroom-ready economic simulation that must be secure, persistent, and easy for a teacher to run. I’ve worked on similar education/game platforms involving server-side progression, virtual economies, dashboards, leaderboards, and trading mechanics. I’d first deliver M1: a clear 2–4 page balance/design plan covering what stays, what changes, difficulty, adjustable values, stock list, thresholds, and contest rules—then wait for written approval before coding. From there, I’d build secure student/teacher accounts with server-side state, persistent progress across devices, a configurable Act 1 economy, Act 2 paper trading with delayed real prices and validated money math, plus teacher controls, leaderboard, exports, and audit-ready trade history. I’ll prioritize anti-cheat logic, automated tests, reliability, and a 30-student Chromebook pilot so this works in a real classroom—not just a demo. If this aligns, I’d be happy to jump on a call and walk through the architecture and M1 approach. THANKS CHIRTSINA

Hi, Mateo here, from Toronto, to help you build this out. Thirty students hitting the same server during one class period only works if progress-saving and the real-money-math logic are server-authoritative from the very first milestone, not something retrofitted after the localStorage prototype gets a login screen bolted on. I'd rebuild the account and game-state layer first so a student can close the browser mid-session and pick back up on a Chromebook the next day with zero drift, then port the economy game against that backend with every price and threshold pulled from an editable settings file rather than hardcoded values. The trading floor would sit on top of that same server-truth model, pulling delayed real market prices and rejecting any trade the student can't actually afford, with the money math covered by automated tests before it ever reaches a classroom. I've built similar multi-user, server-authoritative systems with real-time state and admin dashboards before, and the milestone structure here maps cleanly onto how I'd sequence the build anyway. For M1, do you want me to draft the design doc for review, or do you already have a version in progress that I should build from and adjust?

Hi I can take the existing YOMAMA Investments prototype and turn it into a reliable multi-user classroom platform for teachers and about 30 simultaneous students. I understand the two-act structure clearly: first, students build capital through the economy game, then unlock a real-price paper trading experience. I can preserve the strongest parts of the current gameplay while moving all authoritative state from localStorage to a secure backend so progress persists across devices and cannot be manipulated from the browser. I can deliver this milestone by milestone, starting with the game design and balance document before any code changes. From there I can implement class codes, student accounts, server-side game logic, configurable economy values, market-price integration, portfolio math, teacher controls, leaderboard, exports, testing, and pilot support. I also have experience with JavaScript, backend systems, database design, game logic, and financial calculations. Best, Justin

Your unlock threshold will become the bottleneck - if Act 1 takes too long, students disengage before they reach trading; too short and they skip the economic lesson. This balance determines whether your 4-week arc holds attention or collapses in week 2. Quick questions - what's your target time for an average student to unlock Act 2, and are you planning async resource accrual (students earn while offline) or only during active play? Here's the architectural approach: - PHP BACKEND: Session-based auth with class-code joins, PostgreSQL for student state/portfolio/trades, cron job for price feeds and idle resource accrual between logins. - JAVASCRIPT GAME ENGINE: Refactor localStorage logic into API calls, implement client-side prediction so UI feels instant while server validates every transaction to block console cheating. - TEACHER DASHBOARD: Real-time class overview pulling aggregated stats, CSV export of all trades/progress, admin panel where every game constant (unlock threshold, building costs, stock whitelist) lives in a config table you can edit without redeploying code. I've built similar edu-fintech hybrids for 2 charter school programs that needed anti-cheat + multi-week persistence on shared devices. Let's walk through your Act 1 economy design and nail the progression curve before we write a line of code.

Hi, I can convert Yomama Investments from a single-browser prototype into a secure, server-backed classroom game while preserving the Bloomberg-style interface and the strongest parts of the existing economy. I’ll follow the six milestones exactly, beginning with the approved game-design and balance document before writing production code. The architecture will use an authoritative backend so students cannot change cash, resources, unlock progress, or portfolio values through browser developer tools. For Act 1, offline production can be calculated from trusted server timestamps when a student returns, avoiding unnecessary background processing. Shared supply and demand will be managed at class level while each student retains an independent run. For Act 2, trades will use server-fetched delayed market data, decimal-safe money calculations, transactional balance checks, and complete trade history. The teacher dashboard will include class controls, detailed student monitoring, leaderboard management, resets, pause/end states, and spreadsheet exports. I’ll also implement automated tests, concurrent-session testing, recovery safeguards, audit logging, and a deployment structure suitable for school Chromebooks and multi-week sessions. Best regards, Houssame

Hey, The main architectural shift is moving the game from browser-owned state to server-authoritative state without losing the simplicity of the existing prototype. For 30 students across multiple devices, the economy, unlock threshold, portfolio and leaderboard all need transactional server-side rules so client-side edits cannot change scores or balances. I’d follow the milestone structure exactly, starting with the balance/design document before implementation. The backend can then support persistent student sessions, server-side economy calculations, delayed market pricing, portfolio accounting, teacher controls and automated tests around the money logic. I’d also keep adjustable game values configuration-driven so balancing can happen without code changes. Do you already have a preferred market-data provider for the delayed stock and ETF prices?

As an engineer at Modular Solutions, I have extensive experience with backend development and database management, which is crucial for building the infrastructure needed to run a successful classroom prototype like the one you're envisioning. I can create a robust system that allows students to join using a class code, pick a display name, and have their progress persist across devices, which is essential for an extended time-spanning session like your four-week project. In addition, my proficiency in Java and JavaScript aligns well with your project's tech stack requirements. I understand the in-browser localStorage and can reimagine it so that all game progress is stored on the server, giving your teacher full control over the classroom dynamics. Furthermore, my skills in Mathematics are invaluable when constructing complex economic models for the game - ensuring prices, payouts, unlock thresholds, and stock lists are all well-balanced to deliver optimal learning experiences while keeping everything flexible via the settings file without additional programming. Lastly, I've got a great background in Game Development and am excited to bring this expertise into customizing YOMAMA Investments for the context of your high school classroom. Combining my love for building engaging experiences with programming skills and meticulousness required to handle big data for 30+ simultaneous users sets me up to be an exceptional fit for this task.
