I have a set of structural drawings for a brand-new residential build here in California. Before I submit for permit, the city is asking for a California-licensed structural engineer to perform a full review, verify code compliance, and add an official stamp. The plans cover a ground-up home—no remodel elements—so your focus will be on new-construction requirements under the current CBC and ASCE 7. Soil and geotech reports are in hand; architectural, MEP, and preliminary structural sheets are ready in PDF and DWG. What I need from you • A thorough analysis confirming the design meets California Building Code, local seismic criteria, high-wind provisions where applicable, and standard load combinations. • Any redlines or markups required to bring the drawings and calc package into compliance. • Final stamped structural sheets (PDF + original CAD) and stamped calculations suitable for direct permit submittal. I’m happy to forward the existing files, city checklist, and turnaround expectations the moment we start. If you’re currently licensed in California and experienced with residential new builds, let’s connect so we can get this project approved without delays.

Hi Muhammad N., Last week I completed a very similar CA new-build review and stamp, so I’m confident I can handle this really well. I’m a California‑licensed structural engineer; verification on request. i would like to know the below. - Which city/jurisdiction will review the permit, and do you have their latest structural checklist or local amendments? - What lateral system is on the current set (wood shear walls/holdowns, steel frames, etc.), and can you share geotech design params (Site Class, Ss/S1, SDC, wind speed/exposure)? I think we should. - Add a Design Criteria sheet (2022 CBC + ASCE 7‑16: risk category, Sds/Sd1, Vult, Exposure, diaphragm type) to speed approval. - Include a clear Special Inspections/Materials schedule on the structural sheets to avoid back‑and‑forth. Lets follow a plan like this. 1) I review PDFs/DWGs, geotech, and city list; confirm code path and design loads. 2) I run gravity, seismic, and wind calcs; verify drift, collectors, chords, nailing, and load combos; close any gaps. 3) I redline and update CAD, coordinate with Arch/MEP, and finalize details/notes. 4) I issue stamped structural PDFs + original CAD and stamped calc book, then respond quickly to one plan‑check cycle. May I know if you are the project owner or part of the direct client team, because I usually work directly with the customer and do not engage through agents, brokers, or middle parties. Thank you for understanding. Don’t mind.

⚡⚡⚡California Licensed Structural Engineer – Residential Permitting⚡⚡⚡ Hello, I have experience reviewing and stamping residential structural packages for California permit submissions, including ground-up homes designed under CBC and ASCE 7 seismic/wind requirements. I’ve coordinated with architectural and MEP teams to resolve compliance issues quickly and deliver permit-ready stamped calculations and drawings. My approach is to perform a full code and load-path review, issue concise redlines if required, then finalize stamped structural sheets and calculation packages for direct city submission. Key technical points to confirm are project jurisdiction/seismic design category, structural system type, and whether the preliminary calculations are already completed. Thanks

Hello, I’m a structural engineer experienced in California residential new-construction projects, including seismic and wind design review under the current CBC and ASCE 7 requirements. Your ground-up residential build—with completed architectural, MEP, geotech, and preliminary structural packages—is well suited for a focused compliance review and permit-ready structural validation. I can perform a full structural review covering load paths, seismic detailing, gravity/lateral systems, foundation coordination with the geotechnical report, and code compliance verification. Where needed, I’ll provide redlines and calculation updates to resolve deficiencies before final stamping. Deliverables will include stamped structural drawings, signed calculations, and coordinated revisions suitable for direct city permit submission in California.
