145890 OpenGL 3D Texture method

I need to visualize volumetric data using openGL I have found that the glTexImage3D, and glCompressedTexImage might be the solution. Bearing in mind that the model size might be larger than the actual memory where we might need some type of compression ……. or any suggested method. My model size is ranging from 1000X1000X1000 to 10000X10000X10000 in 3D.

If you only have the experience needed I need you to writ in an easy and efficient way the method and explain it if needed that can take the following testing data.

d= 1000X1000X1000

Float data[d]

// you can generate the data for testing purpose using any random function

// without code needed for data loading

Then OpenGL function would look like:

void visualizeTexture(float *data)

{

………………………………..................

}

I presume less than 100 lines for this method unless you have another suggestions.
