Design of an amusement ride meant for children under 10yrs old:
Design criterion: it must occupy a small footprint.
Chapter 3: Embodiment (Layout) Design
- Contains alternative layout or embodiment of critical components so that more robust and effective design are obtained.
Chapter 4: Detailed Design
– Mainly contains calculations and detailed assembly and part drawings.
Calculations on selection of main machine elements and strength of materials sizing of major parts only.
The relevant manufacturing and dimensional information must be shown.
Must provide an assembly drawing showing how the parts are put together.
- Relevant tables or catalogues pages where the off the shelf machines element parts were selected will be needed.
What We need is the graphics done on Solidworks for our design of the amusement ride which can be found in the sample ride report.
We also need simple calculations done for the ride for the selection of motor and dimensions and selection of the parts that make up the ride.
A picture file which is similar to our design is attached. (water will be added into it)
Basically, what we need is chapters 3 and 4 of the attached file name 3011sample for our water boat ride design.
Dimensions of the various parts and speed of the ride can be assumed, but the assumptions made must be reasonable and stated. (for eg. the radius of the platform to be in the range of 4-5metres and speed to be about 10 rev/min)
Each carriage can carry 2 riders, each can be assumed to be 50kg.
Safety factor must be used for the calculations.
