I am developing a new spectacle frame and need a product designer who can balance engineering accuracy with eye-catching style. Both the mechanical function and the overall look carry equal weight for this project, so I’m counting on you to finesse every detail—from hinge geometry to surface curves—until the piece is production-ready and commercially appealing. READ BELOW- DESIGN WILL BE OF 2 PARTS - 1 FRAME - THIS ALLOWS LENS TO BE LOCKED INTO IT WITH HANDS 2- LENS FRAME - USED TO FIX LENS IN IT AND THEN IT GOES INTO THE FRAME TO BE LOCKED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SEMI PERMANENT LOCKING MECHANISM. Key design parameters • Material: the frame will be injection-moulded in PC or TR90. Every feature must respect the flow, draft and wall-thickness constraints typical of these plastics. • Primary objective: robust mechanical performance. The temple mechanism, lens retention groove and nose-bridge stress points must all be proven durable while keeping the frame lightweight and comfortable. Deliverables • Full 3D CAD model (SolidWorks, Inventor or comparable) ready for tool-maker hand-off • 2D manufacturing drawings with tolerances, draft angles and material call-outs • Exploded views or animation highlighting hinge action and lens insertion • Renderings that clearly communicate colour, finish and brand language Acceptance criteria 1. All contact points survive a virtual drop test and meet standard eyewear flex tolerances. 2. Draft analysis shows zero under-cuts or gating conflicts for single-shot moulding in PC/TR90. 3. Aesthetic proposal matches contemporary lifestyle eyewear trends while keeping SKU cost competitive. If you have a track record in eyewear, consumer electronics casings or similar injection-moulded products, I’d love to see examples and discuss how you would approach this frame in detail.

Your project sounds like a great blend of precision engineering and aesthetic design—exactly the kind of work I specialize in. With over 14 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, I can support you through the full process of developing your spectacle frame. I focus on achieving the right balance between functional performance (hinge geometry, fit, durability, manufacturability) and visual appeal (surface flow, proportions, and finish). Here’s how I can contribute: Develop accurate 3D CAD models with attention to hinge mechanics and ergonomics Refine surface curves and styling for a clean, market-ready look Ensure the design is optimized for manufacturing (injection molding / CNC / 3D prototyping) Iterate quickly with you to fine-tune both form and function Deliver production-ready files (STEP/IGS/STL) along with technical details I’m comfortable working from initial concepts or sketches and can also help enhance the design direction if needed. If you can share any references, target materials, or manufacturing preferences, I can get started with a concept proposal right away. Looking forward to collaborating on this

Hey, your project looks so interesting. I have designed an action camera for a bicycle, and I saw your requirements- I can do it all for you, but your budget is too low. - I'm open to discussing all commercial decisions (why it's low and how we can work together) If you want this product for your company, just text me, and we will make it together

I will engineer a high-precision, two-part spectacle system featuring a robust semi-permanent locking mechanism within 5 days. Although new to this platform, I have extensive experience in Industrial Product Design and Injection Moulding (Dfm), specializing in functional consumer goods like eyewear and electronics casings. I will utilize SolidWorks to develop the Main Frame and Lens Frame, ensuring the interlocking geometry is secure yet user-friendly, while strictly adhering to TR90/PC material constraints (draft analysis, wall consistency, and gate flow). I will provide a production-ready CAD suite, detailed 2D drawings with tolerances, and cinematic renderings that showcase the contemporary lifestyle aesthetic of your brand. Technical Workflow: Mechanism Design: Developing the snap-fit or slide-lock geometry between the Lens Frame and Main Frame for a secure "semi-permanent" feel. DFM Optimization: Full draft analysis to ensure zero under-cuts and smooth ejection for single-shot moulding. Durability: Virtual stress testing on nose-bridge and hinge points to meet eyewear flex standards. Aesthetics: Finessing surface curvatures for a premium, ergonomic fit that follows modern trends. Deliverables: Full 3D CAD Master (STEP/IGES/SLDPRT) 2D Manufacturing Drawings (Tolerances & Drafts) Exploded View Animation (Hinge & Locking Action) High-Resolution Product Renderings Thanks, Muhammad Mohid Ahmed

Hi, I like the concept of separating the frame and lens holder with a semi-permanent locking mechanism — it’s a smart direction both functionally and commercially. From a design perspective, I would approach this project starting with the locking mechanism itself, since it’s the core of the product. I’m thinking in terms of a controlled snap-fit or flexible clip geometry that works reliably with PC/TR90, allowing easy manual assembly while maintaining secure retention over repeated use. I work primarily with SolidWorks and focus on creating models that are ready for manufacturing, not just visually complete. That means: * Consistent wall thickness suitable for injection molding * Proper draft angles on all features * Avoiding undercuts to keep tooling simple (single-shot molding) * Designing around material behavior (flexibility for TR90, stiffness for PC) For critical areas like the hinge, lens groove, and nose bridge, I would prioritize durability and stress distribution while keeping the overall structure lightweight and comfortable.
