Hey, For an IP CCTV deployment, camera placement and network design need to be solved together; a camera that covers an area on paper can still produce unusable footage because of viewing angle, lighting, cable distance, PoE budget, uplink capacity, or insufficient recording bandwidth. I’d use the floor plans and virtual walkthrough to establish coverage zones first, then size the cameras, PoE switching, Ethernet/wireless links, NVR storage, and VMS around the required retention and resolution. The network should keep CCTV traffic isolated with appropriate VLAN/subnet design, while remote access should avoid unnecessary exposure of the NVR through direct port forwarding where a safer vendor-supported method is available. Final commissioning would include camera/VMS validation, recording and playback checks, mobile viewing, coverage verification, and an as-built package containing the IP table and operational documentation. Do you already have a target retention period and approximate number/resolution of cameras, or should those be determined from the floor plans and coverage requirements?
