COMSOL Packed Bed Reactor Optimization for ammonia dissociation

I want to build a detailed COMSOL Multiphysics model of a packed-bed reactor so I can optimise the overall reactor design with a clear focus on catalyst effectiveness. The simulation must reliably capture reaction rate, temperature distribution and pressure drop across the bed, then link those results back to measurable improvements in catalyst performance. The work involves creating (or refining) a 2-D or 3-D model, setting up the appropriate physics interfaces for fluid flow, heat transfer and heterogeneous reaction kinetics, and running parametric sweeps that show how particle size, porosity, operating temperature and inlet velocity affect the three key parameters above. Please include proper mesh convergence checks and sensible boundary conditions that mimic lab-scale or pilot-scale operation. Deliverables • A fully‐documented COMSOL .mph file with all studies and parametric sweeps • A concise report (PDF or Word) summarising methodology, validation steps, plots of reaction rate, temperature field and pressure drop, and specific design recommendations to maximise catalyst effectiveness • Short walkthrough or recorded video outlining how to modify inputs and re-run the model Acceptance criteria The model must: • Resolve temperature gradients within ±2 K of reference data (or published correlations when data are not supplied) • Predict pressure drop within 10 % of Ergun-type estimates over the tested flow range • Display stable reaction rate profiles free of numerical artefacts throughout the catalyst bed If you have proven COMSOL experience with reactive packed beds or similar multiphase systems, I’d be happy to review a brief outline of your approach and expected timeline.
