I need an experienced CNC programmer to turn my mechanical component design into reliable, production-ready code for stainless-steel machining. The part will be cut from 300-series stainless, so I’m looking for toolpaths that balance cycle time with tool life while still delivering a clean surface finish. You’ll receive the part geometry the moment we start. Your job is to choose appropriate tooling, set feeds and speeds that suit stainless, and supply G-code along with a quick simulation or verification report so I can run it on Okuma Lathe with confidence. I prefer work done in Fusion 360, Mastercam, or SolidCAM—use whichever you’re fastest with, just be sure the post matches a OSP-P500L CNC Control. This project involves mass production and will be machined on an Okuma Lathe. Ideally, I am looking for freelancers based in Australia. Deliverables • Verified G-code ready for an Okuma LB3000EX3 CNC Lathe • Setup sheet with tool list, offsets, and workholding notes • Screenshot or short video of the back-plot/simulation proving there are no collisions I’ll review the code on a simulator first; if it loads cleanly and the toolpaths look efficient, the milestone is complete. Let me know your lead time and which CAM platform you plan to use.

The core decision here is between adaptive clearing toolpaths or traditional trochoidal toolpaths for roughing, and I’d go with adaptive clearing in Fusion 360 because it manages tool engagement much better in stainless steel, so it reduces heat buildup and extends tool life significantly. I will take your part geometry and select appropriate tooling, focusing on solid carbide endmills for stainless, then I will program the toolpaths, setting feeds and speeds to manage chip load and heat for 300-series stainless, so you get reliable production code. The output will be G-code verified within Fusion 360’s simulation environment, also providing a setup sheet detailing the tools and operations. I will not be doing a full material removal simulation as part of the initial G-code delivery; that adds significant time and is not usually required for production code. What is the general tolerance range for the critical features of this mechanical component? Preferred Freelancer here, and I have not missed a deadline or gone over an agreed price yet. Let's schedule a short call on Freelancer to confirm the exact deliverables for the G-code and the setup sheet detail.

I’m a Mechatronics & Robotics Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, CNC/CAM workflows, machining processes, and engineering automation. I can take your component geometry and develop production-ready toolpaths focused on safe machining, efficient cycle time, tool life, and surface finish for 300-series stainless steel. I can work with Fusion 360 and prepare the complete machining workflow, including tooling selection, feeds and speeds, workholding considerations, tool offsets, and Haas-compatible post-processing. I’ll also verify the toolpaths through simulation/back-plotting to check for collisions, excessive engagement, and other potential machining issues before delivery. Deliverables will include: • Haas-compatible verified G-code • Complete setup sheet with tools, offsets, and workholding notes • Toolpath simulation/back-plot screenshots or video • Feeds/speeds optimized for stainless-steel machining • Clean, organized CAM files for future modifications Once you provide the geometry and Haas controller details, I can confirm the exact setup and lead time. I’ll make sure the code is simulator-verified before you run it on the machine. Best regards, Reza

The bottleneck is generating reliable, efficient G-code for stainless steel mass production on Okuma lathe. The root cause is optimizing toolpaths and feeds to balance tool life and cycle time while ensuring clean surface finish. I will leverage Mastercam for precise toolpath generation, selecting tooling and feeds specific to 300-series stainless. I will deliver verified G-code, setup sheets, and collision-free simulations matching Haas standard post processors. This approach ensures efficient, safe machining ready for your production schedule; I will validate with simulator runs before milestone completion. Which specific stainless steel grade and hardness range should the toolpaths be optimized for to maximize tool life?
