I need a purpose-built software package that lets me run my CNC‐based 3D printers from a single, intuitive interface. The focus is on day-to-day control and operation rather than design work: loading G-code, managing multi-axis motion, optimizing toolpaths on the fly, and keeping a constant eye on temperatures, feeds, and sensor feedback without pausing a job. The machines on my floor vary, so the application has to drive everything from a straightforward FDM gantry to more complex SLA and SLS setups. That means kinematics for rotary or additional linear axes, stepless speed changes, and smart re-slicing or re-planning if a collision or out-of-range condition is detected. Real-time monitoring is non-negotiable; I want live dashboards that surface spindle speed, laser power, material flow, and environmental readings, plus logging for later analysis. Based on modified Marvin firmware for 3D printers. Uses a modified set of G-codes: G0 X1 Y-1 - Start moving the carriage in the specified direction until a stop command (M0) is received or the limit switch is triggered G1 #0000 X000.0 Y000.0 - Move the carriage along the X and Y coordinates at the specified distance, mm G5 #0000 P000 C000 - Make cutter C strikes duration P ms G26 X0000 Y0000 - Set the specified coordinates for the current position (without moving) G27 X Y - Set current position as start for each coordinate G28 X Y - Start moving to the starting position for each coordinate (before the limit switch is triggered) G92 #0000 X000.0 Y000.0 - Move the carriage to the specified position (taking into account the current position), mm M0 - Stop M1 - Stop processing to get the next sequence of commands M2 - Start printing commands from the queue M3 - Display the list of commands in the queue M17 - Power on steppers M18 - Power off steppers M92 X000 Y000 - Set the number of steps per rotation M114 - Display the current position of the carriage and limit switches M201 X000 Y000 - Set the acceleration of steppers for each coordinate, step/sec2 M203 X000 Y000 - Set the speed of steppers for each coordinate, step / sec M500 - Saving the current position and settings in the ROM (EEPROM) of the controller M501 - Loading the current position and settings from the ROM (EEPROM) of the controller M502 - Reset parameters to standard (factory) M503 - Output current parameters of engraver M666 #00000 - Unlocking system operation using a unique ID from the control program M667 - Blocking the system Receive commands via the serial port from the control program manually (in maintenance mode). It is possible to provide work with a specific instance of the control program to prevent unlicensed use

Hello! I've been recommended by a Freelancer Recruiter. Nice to meet you. Your main requirement is a working delivery that matches the brief without breaking what you already have. I’ll start from your title and description, list the must-have requirements, and implement against your specified stack. Existing code and integrations stay in place unless you asked to replace them. I’ll confirm edge cases, errors, and acceptance checks before calling it done. The main technical risk is a mismatch between the listing and the live system. I’d first read the current flow and reproduce the reported behavior, then implement the smallest change that meets the written requirements and add a rollback path if the change has to be reversed. I'd love to chat about your project! The worst that can happen is you walk away with a free consultation. Regards, Chris | Lead Developer | Novatech

Aoa WR WB, I develop hardware-interfaced desktop applications and custom CAD tools (2D graphics). Do all machines use the same G-code set? Do you have a document detailing the scope of work? What type of PC ports do the machines interface on? The quote is a placeholder till details are agreed upon. My bid is for a C++ desktop application solution. Ws WR WB, Muhammad Bilal Khan

I need a purpose-built controller for CNC-based 3D printers running your modified Marvin firmware, driving FDM, SLA and SLS from one interface — not a slicer, an operations console. I'd build a Python/Qt (or Electron) app over a serial/USB layer that speaks your custom G-code set: G0 jog-until-M0/limit, G1 relative moves, G5 cutter strikes, plus G26/G27/G28 for coordinate setting and homing. A background telemetry thread parses feedback into live dashboards (spindle, laser power, material flow, temps, environment) with time-series logging, while a motion planner enforces axis limits and pauses/re-plans on collision or out-of-range. Kinematics stay pluggable per machine profile so rotary and extra linear axes are config, not rewrites. I've built exactly this style of always-on monitoring agent with structured logging for other clients. One thing that decides the architecture: does each machine report telemetry back over the same serial link as structured messages, and if so, can you share a sample of that feedback stream?

Hello, Your biggest challenge here isn’t simply sending G-code to a printer it’s reliably coordinating different CNC-based machines in real time while handling modified Marvin commands, multi-axis motion, limits, and live sensor feedback without interrupting a job. I’d build the control layer around your modified G-code protocol, with strong safeguards for limit switches, coordinate state, acceleration/speed changes, command queues, and M500–M503 configuration handling. The interface can then provide a unified workflow for FDM, SLA, and SLS machines while keeping machine-specific kinematics and hardware behavior isolated underneath. For the monitoring side, I’d implement continuous telemetry for position, temperatures, spindle/laser parameters, material flow, environmental sensors, and controller status, with timestamped logs for troubleshooting and performance analysis. I’d also design collision/out-of-range detection so replanning or controlled job interruption can happen before unsafe motion is issued, rather than relying on the machine to recover afterward. One question before starting: do you already have the modified Marvin firmware source and the exact serial communication protocol, or would you like me to first build a protocol simulator around the G-code specification you provided?

Rough estimate on the bid amount and timeline above, we'll sharpen both once we've had a chance to go through the full scope with you. What you're describing is a dedicated machine controller, not just a slicer front-end. You want one application that talks directly to your modified Marvin firmware using your custom G-code dialect, handles the quirks of FDM, SLA, and SLS kinematics in one place, and keeps a live eye on everything without you having to pause a job to check on it. The real-time piece is the hard part, and it sounds like it's the non-negotiable one. Here's how we'd approach this: - Serial/firmware layer: C/C++ communication layer that speaks your custom G-code set (G0 through M201) over serial, with proper ACK/queue handling so M1 and M2 flow control actually work without dropped commands. - Kinematics engine: Axis config per machine profile (standard gantry, rotary, SLS scan head), with stepless feed-rate control and the out-of-range detection you need for mid-job replanning. - Real-time dashboard: Live graphs for spindle speed, laser power, material flow, and environmental sensors, pulling from the firmware's M114 position reports and any analog feeds, with a rolling log written to disk for post-run analysis. - Toolpath optimizer: On-the-fly re-planning when a collision or limit condition is flagged, using your G92 relative-move math as the correction primitive. - Job manager UI: G-code file loader, command queue viewer (M3), and machine preset manager so switching between printer types doesn't mean reconfiguring from scratch every time. After a short scope chat we'll put together a written proposal covering deliverables, timeline and a firm price. Would a quick 15-minute call work to walk through the machine types and any firmware quirks we should know about before quoting firm numbers? Best, 96 Studio

Hi, this project genuinely looks interesting to me. I enjoy working with low-level C/C++, firmware and control systems, so I’d like to work on it. I’m comfortable with serial communication, G-code, embedded systems and debugging. I can start by reviewing the existing firmware and getting the communication and basic motion-control side working properly. I prefer working through chat and Git, so no calls are needed from my side. If you send me the current source/firmware and a few examples of the serial responses, I can start right away.

Saludos, Ramiro

Advanced CNC 3D Controller I specialize in embedded C++ systems and serial communication, making me perfectly suited to build this control dashboard for your modified Marlin firmware. I have reviewed your custom command set, including the M666 unlocking and G5 cutter protocols. Building a robust, multi-axis dashboard with live telemetry is a complex undertaking. My bid of $250 reflects Phase 1 of development: 1. Phase 1 Execution Plan:Serial & Queue Management: I will build a Python/C++ backend to handle the M666 unlock and manage your specific command queue states (M1, M2, M3). 2. Live Telemetry UI: I will develop an intuitive dashboard to parse M114 outputs, displaying real-time carriage positions, limit switches, and sensor feeds. 3. Direct Configuration: The interface will include direct controls for setup parameters, specifically handling M92, M201, and M203. I prioritize strict logic handling so the serial queue never drops a command. Send me a message to discuss your preferred UI framework.

Hi, I can build a purpose-built CNC/3D-printer control application around your modified Marvin firmware and custom G/M-code protocol, with multi-axis motion, G-code queue management, real-time machine monitoring, and live control of speed, acceleration and machine parameters. I have experience with firmware communication, serial-controlled machines, stepper/axis control, limit switches, homing, EEPROM settings, sensor feedback and operator dashboards, and can structure the software to support FDM, SLA, SLS and other machine configurations. I can also implement safety/limit detection, job interruption and recovery, dynamic toolpath/feed adjustments, comprehensive logging, and your M666/M667 licensing or maintenance-mode mechanism. I’d be happy to develop this as a reliable, extensible control platform rather than a basic G-code sender. Florian
