I'm working with a Beauty Supplies distributor whose clients are mostly State certified hairstylists. The problem is, since each of the 50 states have their own stylist database, he is not able to sell any "Professionals Only" products off of his Yahoo store. Professional products amount for more than 60% of his bricks and mortar sales.
He would like an application that is inactive unless the Shopping Cart button is clicked for "Professionals Only Products". Onclick, a page pops-up that requests his customers to input their License number and the state they are from, then the application would query that particular state's licensed stylist database in real-time, checking for validity.
If the number the stylist provides is valid, the customer is allowed to proceed to the shopping-cart, if not, they are informed of the problem and told to check the accuracy of the number they supplied, and are not allowed to proceed to the shopping-cart, but are returned to the pop-up for license re-entry.
Hair stylists in the USA, must be licensed by their individual state before they can do business in that state. They end up in a state's licensed professionals database. We are not even sure if all the states databases can be accessed in this way, but feel if at least 25% are, then this is a viable project.
