I need a small Python service that takes the video stream from an ANPR camera, extracts each vehicle registration number in real time and writes it to an online MySQL table. The script will run on several identical modules in our yard, so I want the camera IP address to live in a simple config file; when we deploy a new unit we will edit only that value and restart the service. Core flow I have in mind • pull the RTSP/HTTP feed from the camera (the exact URL pattern can vary, so please keep it configurable) • detect the licence plate region, recognise the characters and time-stamp the read • push plate text, camera IP and time into a remote MySQL database over SSL • retry gracefully if the network drops You are free to use OpenCV, EasyOCR, PaddleOCR, Tesseract—or a commercial SDK if the licence is redistributable—so long as the final solution is headless and can be started automatically on boot (systemd service is fine). Deliverables 1. Python source code with clear comments 2.
