Hello, It seems you should use their SDK instead of directly access to the device's serial. This series is different than other handheld barcode scanners where they are mostly set as a keyboard input. It seems we should use their specific function using SDK Let me know if it is OK for you

Do you utilize RS232 connection? Do you have MetroSelect Configuration Guide (PN 00-02407x) and the MS2xxx Stratos Series Configuration Addendum (PN 00-02034x)?
