Warm colours and a modern feel pull against each other, and that tension is the interesting part of this job. Reds, oranges and yellows carry associations that are hard to shake — food, energy, sale signage, nineteen-seventies. Reach for them naively and the mark reads retro or fast-food rather than modern. It is solvable, but it happens in the specifics rather than by intention: a warm palette feels contemporary when the hues are pulled slightly off the obvious ones, when one warm tone dominates instead of three competing, and when there is somewhere cool or neutral for the eye to rest. A terracotta and a deep clay read modern. Fire-engine red with a bright yellow reads like a takeaway. Same with the icon. Modern in this category usually means restraint — one clear idea, geometry that holds together at small sizes, no gradient doing the work that the shape should be doing. But there is something your brief does not say, and it matters more than any of the above: what the business actually is. Modern, warm, text plus symbol describes how you want it to feel, not what it should mean. Every designer bidding will read those words and produce something generic, because there is nothing else to work from — and a mark that means something specific costs no more to design than one that means nothing. So tell me what you sell and who buys it. Then three genuinely different directions rather than three versions of one, and refinement on the one you choose.
