Your overdue highlight only works if the due dates are real dates. Dates copied out of a PDF often land in Excel as text that just looks like a date, and Excel ranks any text above any number. So a text date is never earlier than TODAY(), the overdue rule never fires, and nothing warns you. That's why every column's type is fixed before anything goes in. The PDFs are read with Python, with OCR only if a page is a scan, and dates go in as dates, spend and balance as numbers. Your rough Excel file gets the same pass, then both land in one Excel Table. SUM, AVERAGE, the lookups and the highlight rules point at the Table's columns, not fixed ranges, so a row you append is picked up at once and no reference breaks.
