Most of the market size numbers you'll find for AI and software segments trace back to a handful of vendor press releases that everyone re-cites, and even where the figure is honest it's the wrong figure for you, because the money you can win is the communication and creative budget line inside those companies, not the revenue of the segment itself. So I'd build it from the bottom. I make the company list first with Python over public sources, job postings, funding announcements and company sites, then the sizing falls out of that list as a count of real companies times a defensible spend per company, and the prospect spreadsheet stops being a separate deliverable and becomes the evidence under the report. The signals I'd score on: hiring for content or marketing roles, a site nobody has touched in two years, a recent raise, founders technical enough that they're writing their own copy badly. That last one is where an agency gets hired. What I can't do is resell paid analyst data. Every forecast will be public and cited with its publication date, and where a number is a vendor's own estimate the table will say so. Which geography are you selling into? A segment that's underserved in one market is crowded in another and the company list comes out completely different.
