SEC Edgar - Filing Date

Publicly traded companies report financial results with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a regular basis (at least every quarter). All of these filings are publicly available for free on the SEC website. Currently, I have a long list of publicly traded companies, both company names and unique identifier - Central Index Key (CIK) number. I also many fiscal period end dates for each company (both quarterly and annual filings). What I do not have, yet still need, is the date that the company filed the fiscal information with the SEC (ie – Filing Date). I would like an Excel Macro which will take my data, download the filing information from the SEC search and then input the filing date for each period end date. I suspect it is a simple project (and I also suspect someone else has already built it) The following URL is the SEC company search page: [login to view URL] On the right hand side is the Fast Search Option which searches through the filings by CIK number. Once you enter a CIK (example is Whirlpool, CIK = 0000106640), the website pulls up all company filings. Above the list of results is additional filtering options – I will need filing type “10-Q” (quarterly filings) and/or “10-K” (annual filing). Examples of filtered results for two companies are below. Note the intuitive simplicity of the url – it incorporates the CIK number, the 10-Q and can also change the number of observations to 100. Whirlpool (CIK = 0000106640) [login to view URL] You can further change the search by limiting the search to either 10-Q or 10-K by limiting search to Filing Type =‘10’; Apple (CIK = 0000320193) [login to view URL] My list of data includes CIK number, company name, fiscal year, fiscal quarter and period end dates. The macro will need to identify unique CIK numbers from this list, search [login to view URL] for dates filed – pull the associated filing dates and link each period end date to the associated filing date. I had planned to download entire table (class=[login to view URL]) into excel, then link each filing date to my list. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to invest into building this macro and I’m certain that someone else can create it rather quickly. My current list has over 100,000 company reporting periods, I selected only 2 companies in the attached example. To clarify – this is a macro that I intend to use on a recurring basis with other companies and periods in the future – so I need to macro not just the filing dates for the current list. I have included a small subset of my data in the attachment (and the downloads from [login to view URL]). Other items to consider: the filing date MUST come from will not occur until after the
