I am an international student seeking full-time job opportunities in the USA, and I’m looking to hire a reliable, detail-oriented freelancer to manage and streamline my job application process. The hired freelancer will act as my Job Application Assistant, handling everything from researching suitable job openings to submitting applications on my behalf. If you have experience with job search strategies, resume/cover letter customization, and navigating online job portals, I’d love to work with you!
Key Responsibilities:
Job Research & Selection: Research and identify relevant job openings in the USA that fit my skills, experience, and location preferences. This includes jobs posted on company career websites, LinkedIn, Indeed, and other major job boards. You will be given criteria for roles and will focus on quality opportunities that match my profile (no random mass applications).
Tailored Applications: Use my provided resume (and multiple versions tailored to different roles) to apply for jobs. Customize or tailor cover letters and application question responses for each position to highlight my relevant qualifications. (I can provide base templates and information, but you should adjust them to suit each application.)
Application Submission: Complete and submit applications on my behalf through various portals – company websites, LinkedIn EasyApply, university job boards, etc. This includes filling out forms, uploading resumes/cover letters, and occasionally creating accounts on application portals when required. You should be familiar with the common application processes and ATS systems to ensure applications are properly submitted.
Tracking & Updates: Maintain a tracking spreadsheet (e.g., Google Sheets) of all applications submitted. Record details like job title, company, link to job posting, date applied, and application status. Update this daily so I can see the progress in real time. Regularly communicate progress and any important notes.
Communication & Follow-Up: Monitor the email account provided for application responses (or LinkedIn messages from recruiters). Report any interview invitations or follow-up requests immediately and, if needed, help coordinate/schedule interview appointments according to my availability. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in any communications done on my behalf.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in Job Applications or Recruiting: You have previous experience as a virtual assistant in a job search support role, recruiter, or career coach – or you have successfully applied to jobs for yourself/clients in the past. You understand how to read job descriptions and determine fit, and you know how to present a candidate effectively in applications.
Excellent English Writing and Communication: You possess strong written English skills to craft compelling cover letters and correspondences. You can adjust tone and content in cover letters based on the industry/role. Fluent spoken English is also needed for clear communication with me.
Attention to Detail and Organization: You are meticulous about following instructions and ensuring accuracy in every application. You can manage spreadsheets and keep data organized. (Please mention a tool or method you use to stay organized when dealing with many tasks – this will help show your approach to handling the workload.)
Knowledge of U.S. Job Market: Familiarity with U.S. job boards and application systems is a big plus. Ideally, you know platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc., and you’re aware of how typical U.S. hiring processes work. If you’ve helped clients apply for jobs in the USA or you understand the sponsorship/visa considerations for international candidates, please let me know.
Professionalism and Reliability: I am looking for someone who is trustworthy and can work with minimal supervision on a daily basis. You must respect confidentiality with my personal documents. Being proactive in updating me and asking questions when uncertain is very important. I value a freelancer who will treat this project with commitment – essentially, as a part of my job search team.
Payment Terms:
Fixed Daily Rate: This job is offered on a fixed daily rate basis (not hourly). We will agree on a set rate per day. For each day of work, you will be expected to devote a certain number of hours to find and apply to jobs (for example, ~5–6 hours daily, aiming for a target number of applications submitted each day, depending on complexity). We can define a reasonable daily application target together to ensure quality is maintained.
Consistent Work: The engagement is expected to last for [mention expected duration, e.g., “the next 4 weeks” or “ongoing for the right candidate”]. You will be paid the fixed rate at the end of each day (or weekly, if using a milestone or weekly schedule on the platform) upon verification of the day’s submitted applications in the tracking sheet.
Please only apply if you are comfortable with a fixed daily rate payment structure and can commit to working on this project daily (Monday–Friday, with potential for weekend work if mutually agreed). In your proposal, state your expected daily rate and confirm your availability (hours per day and start date).
