I script the consolidation, so all 738 files are read and combined in one pass. That also means the work is repeatable: when you receive the next batch of files, the same script runs again in minutes instead of starting over. Two things I will handle because they always bite on merges this size. Files in a set like this are rarely perfectly consistent, so columns get mapped rather than assumed, and any file whose headers do not match is reported to you instead of being silently dropped. And company names arrive with trailing spaces, case differences and duplicate entries across files, so I normalise and flag duplicates rather than deleting them on your behalf. You get the single consolidated workbook, plus a short report of mismatches and duplicates found.
